Forgive my ignorance in geography…what are the English/Dutch/French countries to the north of Brazil?
Guyana, Suriname and French Guyana
Thank you!
And French Guiana is not a country, just a region of France
Huh, so it’s one of those relics of colonialism that didn’t eventually end up independent then.
Also really weird to learn they use the Euro there lol
France is still a colonial power though they rarely seems to getting as much flak as their island rival. It leads to some fun facts like “EUs largest national park is in the Amazon rainforest” and “France is the country with the most timezones (13)”.
Indeed, you can even see French Guyana depicted on the map on the back of the Euro banknotes (usually on a map window in the lower left corner).
Do you know about the ABC Dutch Islands? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABC_islands_(Leeward_Antilles)
Same for the few Caribbean islands speaking French, they are French “départements”
Chile: Gibberish
Thanks for sharing !
I guess Argentina is less proud of their German cultural heritage.
I’ve played enough Victoria 3 to say this makes sense.
