Love it! Just debating whether I want to wait another iteration for more reliable PS2 gaming. But verticals all the way!

This looks nice in theory, but it’s bulkiness reduces it’s pocketability, and it’s vertical form factor makes it hard to use the thumbsticks at the bottom. If we’re going to sacrifice pocketability anyways, might just go for a Switch-style horizontal form-factor, like the RG351M/P models.

I have both a vertical (Miyoo Mini Plus) and a horizontal (RG351MP) emulator. AMA.

Wich formfactor do you prefer? Wich system has the better usability overall?

Depends, overall, I prefer small vertical pocketables (like the Miyoo Mini) due to it’s weight and portability. The limitation is of course, games which require thumbsticks are either not playable, or would be uncomfortable. But the vast majority of the retro games I play don’t need them, so this suits me well.

If I need to play a game with thumbsticks (like Rogue Squadron, or some first-person game with camera controls), I’d prefer a large l horizontal device like the Switch or a Steam Deck for the better ergonomics, but of course you sacrifice portability in the process. Even smaller horizontals like the RG351P/MP aren’t really comfortable either, unless you use an Xbox-style grip for added support (but again, you’d lose out on portability).

Prime is more for demos and not particulaly critical, but I can’t stand Taki. Even before he claimed to make the RP3. RGC is easily the best in the space these days.

I don’t like some things Taki has done, but no one goes into the depth he does in my experience. Too many other reviewers leave out information I’m interested in that Taki always makes sure to cover. I am pissed that he WAY over stated how good the original RP2 was, because it’s fucking garbage.
