But then how can I say “I love you” to my soulmate without the extra suffering and exploitation of human life the real ones provide?
Maybe the children who will lose their jobs in the mines can now just sell their blood for the rich to sprinkle on their diamonds.
Guys please remember even if they are indistinguishable from real diamonds you still have to pay 100X the price and buy the “real” diamond or they are gonna reject your proposal
Hot take: If a partner rejects you because you didn’t give them an expensive enough engagement gift, they’re not worth marrying.
If they truly love you, they wouldn’t care. If they had the slightest concern for your future together, they would prefer that money go into a savings account or the down payment for a house or literally anything more useful than a ring.
I swear when people say hot take it’s not hot but maybe I just agree with hot takes XD
me and my gf both agree if we get married, it’s not gonna be diamonds but some other colorful gemstone. I mean you got all these shiny sapphires, emeralds, rubies, even stuff like turquoise is pretty but no every wants the white gemstone
Hell I’ve even seen some women’s wedding rings out of this black steel in the spiral wavy pattern, the best way I can describe is the Celtic triad/trinity but using that pattern to make a ring
Anyway point being I think diamonds are really pretty but also kind of boring compared to other colors, maybe as accent gemstone if we ignore the price because shiny
I mean, I’m married and neither me or my partner have a ring.
Some people propose with cheap plastic rings, or even without any rings.
It should not be about jewelry
I got our engagement rings from a gumball machine. And I didn’t even pay for those myself because I didn’t have the necessary 20 Cent coins. A passerby gave me three and didn’t accept a Euro in return.
The goal here is to make diamonds for industrial purposes. Most diamonds are produced for tech nowadays.
Yeah, from the article:
The diamonds produced using this method are minuscule, hundreds of thousands of times smaller than those grown with the HPHT method. Hence, these diamonds are far too small for jewelry applications.
However, their use in technological applications, such as drilling or polishing, is a possibility. Due to the low pressure involved in the new method, it might be feasible to significantly scale up diamond synthesis.
However, i bet they are already thinking of getting bigger ones, and might succeed eventually.
likely yeah, but personally I couldn’t care less about jewellery :)
No thank you, the blood pain and mysery of the children and adults mining the real diamonds make it worth it
Don’t be ridiculous - this is a lab environment, they can faithfully recreate the suffering as long as the ethics committee doesn’t get notified.
