I use Cascades. Check out the Cascade 1000. Or Eheim or Marineland or any brand that actually has a recognizable name. Some users seem to like their sunsuns, but I really don't trust them. They are lower tier products.

Thanks for the input, is there any real benefit to having a uv sterilizer or should it be fine as long as I have my water within parameters do you think. Also planning on having a very planted tank

I have a cascade on my 30 gal, I second that it is a great value. It’s quiet and hasn’t given me any issues.

I like Eheim, but priming is a pain. I've recently added a PennPlax to the hundred gallon and like it just fine.

I've always read that sunsun is a great value. I think a uv light is a nice luxury but def not a necessity. I personally run fluvals because of their availability of replacement parts, they durability, and their quiteness. You can usually find a good deal on OfferUp or even at Petco or PetSmart when there is a sale.

I have e a few sun sun 304bs. I really like them a lot they work great for sure. I did have 1 put of about 6 leak though. Also shop around because you can get the same filter for around 100 dollars. Wanted to add that you shouldn't run the uv light for more than a few hours at a time because it can damage the filter because it gets hot.

I would look at Oase biomaster. I also like the fluval 307 for near same price version. There’s 407 too

I bought a green killing machine several years ago and have never installed it. They work just fine, but if your water is clear there is nothing for them to do. They will not control surface algae, just water-borne. If your water suddenly turns green you can always add one.

So I’ve bought this same exact filter from Amazon and it was garbage. Immediately returned it, it’s super cheap and half of it barely works and it’s impossible to setup. I switched to a FluvalSmart fx4 and holy shit the difference was amazing.

Which one are you referring to? The sun sun or the aqueon, I'm pretty sure I'm either going to get this aqueon or a cascade 1200
