American Idiot was the album that made Green Day, well, Green Day again. They probably peaked higher with Dookie in 1994 but American Idiot brought them back to the mainstream

Maybe so but nimrod is a clear second as far as their best albums go unfortunately the later stuff is decidedly average

Nimrod is an amazing album, top 3 for me. And yes, since 2010, for me only Revolution Radio has been really good. Dos is a solid album but the rest from that decade and beyond are trash

My favorite album of all time personally. There are a lot of albums out there that try to tell a story, American Idiot is the only one out there that seriously succeeds. Jesus of Suburbia is the greatest song ever written.

My favourite album for storytelling is The Streets - A Grand Don’t Come For Free but have to agree American Idiot is absolutely fantastic
