I was kinda annoyed that Will just happened to have freaking encephalitis. The very first scene in the show is Will rescuing a stray dog and I was convinced it would eventually be revealed that Hannibal had planted a virus-dog to be found by Will.
Also my probably unpopular Hannibal opinion. I enjoyed the show and I absolutely loved the character of Hannibal, but literally every other character pretty much sucked. Oh except Freddie Lounds she ruled.
Basically tests your ability to draw something from memory [the general shape and functionality of a clock] that's both very simple and familiar, but with details [digits, hands].
Score is based on how many details you got right vs. how many you misplaced/forgot. How many numbers are on a clock? How many hands? Where are the hands and numbers located?
So, you ask the patient to draw a clock, with the hands at a specific time.
Patients with dementia will tend to have certain anomalies, like the numbers being mashed up to one side of the clock, being unable to remember that the clock starts at 12, being unable to recognise the significance of the placement of numbers when adding the hands, etc.
It's a quick an easy test, with obvious fail states.
It's not great for getting the severity - it's more to see that *something* is wrong, indeed it might not even be dementia but another issue. For those who are known to have issues, it can be used to see how they are doing on a particular day.
Yea you’d think well duh anyone can draw a clock - all you need is the numbers and hands- it turns out it’s pretty sensitive for picking up hidden brain dysfunction- the most mild people can’t get the 3,6,9,12 in the right spots - just google it
