I could see an expensive dementia facility setting up something where they tell him every day that yes, he's still the President. They give him fake papers and a sharpie to sign them each day, to keep him entertained, and play recorded videos of his supporters from 2020. They serve him cheeseburgers on gold platters every night.
That's sad. Poor guy. Good on you guys for trying to make him feel at ease and comfortable while it lasted.
After my grandmother died my grandfather condition, who's mind was already deteriorating, rapidly got worse. At one point we couldn't communicate with him anymore. He would just stare and cry a lot. It was really unbearable to see.
He was an artist for most of his career, making paintings in his own time, and making a regular income by designing patterns and other decoration for cigar bands. When he was really far gone the only thing that made him seem at ease was when he had a pencil in his hand and a piece of paper in front of him. What he drew was basically random crap, but at least he wasn't crying or looking lost when he was drawing.

This is the best idea I've seen in a long long while. I would even start watching TV again just for this show.
