When you prove somone wrong and you know they know they're wrong but won't fucking admit it, no matter how much proof or logic you put into it

Edit:I didn't expect this to get nearly 200 upvotes Edit: over 200 0Oo

Or worse they start being incredibly belligerent and childish.

Them: Here's a true fact

you: it isn't, here's why (give evidence)

Them: OH. HEERES WHY, OH LOOK AT MISTER GENIUS OVER HERE

you: no need for that

Them: NO NEED FORTHAT? THEN THERE'S NO NEED FOR ANYTHING, NO NEED FOR FREEDOMS NO NEED FOR MONEY HUH MISTER SMART GUY

you: stop that, it's embaressing

Them: Stop what????I'M NTO DOING ANYTHING AM I DOING SOMETHING? WHAT EXACTLY AM I DOING? MAYBE YOU'RE DOING IT

repeat.

They have failed to bash their ego. I love when you're not offensive and get someone's back up. Know what ever offended you will be used to assassinate your character over and over until i finish with "You have such a big ego better get it in check". I lose so many relationships like this but to be at the whim of a friend/confident/lover/colleague and they attempt to tear you apart because you damaged their ego i will never care about losing those people. The last time this happened. Your cat tore the thread out of my timberlands. The look! my cat wouldn't ever do that he's to good. Its a cat they scratch and claw at everything! Everything.

I wanna fucking bash my own skull in when this happens. Then they have the audacity to say “you always think you’re right!” No goddamnit I don’t think I’m right, I know I’m right cause I just googled it right in front of you

Had a “Friend” who is like that. Have no intention of speaking to him every again.

It means you don't understand how this particular social interaction works. How you say your case matters very much, and in what situation you say it (public vs private, appropriate vs not). People don't like to be criticized or condemned especially in situations that would embarrass them, and they will do everything just to not agree with you.

That's not true in the slightest.

In every action of a person there is a reason behind it. People aren't plain dumb just like that. If someone doesn't admit being wrong there's something holding him back, and there's a good chance that the nature of the conversation had contributed much to it.

The key words from them are "only", "but", "just", and "fair". When you hear those, you know they know they have no way to refute you and are simply trying to bluster their way past you.

People like that remind me of the stubborn mule off of Family Guy:

I love to tell that story. I was living with 2 other roommates. One was a clever dude, and the other was not so clever girl. We were pretty much friends and usually shared meal. One day we had a discussion about the different time in the world (that cause jet lag). She was adamant about something that was wrong. After a lengthy and difficult explanation she stood up and say (keep in mind it was in french so rough translation: I AM WRONG AND I STICK TO IT !

Never argued after that, can't fix stupid

In relation, they say their argument is an exception and the like

This is the most infuriating when you are a kid because you just CANT be smarter, wiser or more intelligent than an adult or god forbid your parents!

See you've met my co-worker.

u/Austin0326 28d ago

That’s called the dunning- Kruger effect.

2

u/xR3d3lement_V2 28d ago

I believe it’s when someone knows very little about a subject thinks that they are average in that subject because they don’t know how much there is to learn about it.

-1

u/GabbrosDeep 28d ago

No it’s where they think they are the best in the subject

-1

u/Lamprophonia 28d ago

IIRC, Dunning-Kruger is when they are too dumb to realize that they're wrong, right?

2

u/Austin0326 28d ago

Yes and they have an unreasonable amount of confidence in their own abilities.
