Just because someone works a service job, it doesn't automatically make them a moron.
Some of us are working towards bigger things, others are dealing with family, money or disability issues. We are thinking, rational adults. Do not treat us as stupid and lacking knowledge about our business. If you have a bad retail or food service experience, 85% of the time it's you. I won't say we don't have bad days but we've all been conditioned to throttle down our emotions at work. The ones who don't or can't soon leave. So be polite and treat us like people, not things
