I think I made it to episode 2 of season 2. The first season is literally about the various ways that all the characters are terrible. Hard to watch a show about assholes you don't give a shit about.

The first season was more about why Hannah baker couldn’t take any responsibility for her own mistakes due to her personality disorder in my opinion. She is a horrible character.

The entire time my husband and I watched it we kept being surprised by how much she just flat out sucked haha like, why would they make her so unlikeable?

Yep. For me it's more an harassment to all people with a lot of problems at school. I've also got a really bad time which led to me being depressed and anxious half of my life, according to this show life's not worth living.

I mean, rape and sexual harassment are important topics and not to take lightly but instead of killing yourself it's better to look for a therapist and work things out.

Dude u can't be serious? Did h watch the show? She hid in the closet because she was scared, drunk, and also worried that he might forcefully rape her too? He's also the most popular football baseball player in school and his family is rich and have lawyers around the clock. She also was extremely depressed and the girl she "let" get raped totally ditched her and clowned her behind her back. There's no way u think she's completly at fault and had no reason to do what she did (or didn't do). Also remember these are supposed to be 14 year Old freshman in high school lmao. How can u put it in such black and white

She hid in the closet because she was scared, drunk, and also worried that he might forcefully rape her too?

She also was later raped by him so that's a very legitimate fear

I didn’t say she had to pop out of the closet and stop him but she could call the police after the fact. She wasn’t willing to do anything or take any responsibility herself. To be fair she would have popped out and whacked him if she chose to

Bro he ended up raping her too. Also unless she recorded him it's still he say she say. Might I add that she's 14 and terrified for her life. Unless you have been in that situation, I don't think u can really say anything. And even if u were in that situation and did what u said she should have, not everyone is the same. She also hates that she didn't speak up. It beats her up inside. Also she's FOURTEEN

So at 14 you don’t know that if you see somebody rape somebody else you should tell the police? And as you say, yeh she got raped too, she might as well have just told somebody then anyway.

Sorry but the way they look and behave, they at least have to be 16.

Well they are freshman in high school and I was 14 when I was a freshman. Even if they were 16 or 18 I don't think that makes a difference. Everyone makes mistakes

Actually yeah I was just going to mention that it’s probably really hard to speak out because of the psychological toll seeing some shit like that can take on your brain. The fact that you can develop PTSD from it says enough I think

I’m glad you haven’t either. It’s fucking terrible and devastating and can be forever damaging.

Please look into fight, flight, or FREEZE. Freeze is a VERY common response based on what is most likely to get you out alive-staying still and letting it happen. For the love of god, please don’t shame and victim blame rape survivors.

Oh I agree. But she's one horrible character among many.

She has no personality disorder.

I suffered through all of the seasons and it’s not even the “they’re all assholes” part that made it unbearable. It was just so god damn preachy while at the same time trying to redeem Bryce. It was just fucking gross, man.

I couldn’t get past the first few episodes of season 3 because of the fact that they were trying to redeem Bryce, it’s actually sickening

Damn, I don't think I made it that far, I am not cool with rape apologists. Brock Turner the Convicted Rapist should hire those writers for PR.

Holy downvotes, Batman!

My take on the first season is that it's incredibly well-made and well-acted but puts every single character morally in the wrong at one time or another. Every character makes decisions that makes their own situation worse than it needs to be.

I tried watching the second season but it totally went off the rails with character decisions and I gave up pretty quickly. They didn't have the book to go on anymore and didn't really know what to do.

That just sounds like watching the news...
