Potatoes. You can even have them for an after dinner drink if you wait long enough

I live in Idaho and I once had a teacher come back from our vacation to tell us he accidentally made about 6 different forms of potato based meals for dinner one of the days over break. 😂

Go to Newfoundland and ask for a "Jigs Dinner". You'll get salted beef, stuffing, gravy and seven kinds of potato on the same plate. The red one has beets in it, the yellow one has some kind of mustard based dressing, the green one has pees, the white one is just potato, the lumpy one has carrots and celery, etc.. You can't finish it, but if you bring the leftovers home dump it in a pot with water and simmer it for a few hours you got a really good soup.

Always wanted to go there

Edit: inexplicably, I love inclement weather

I'm going to have to try that one. Sounds like fluffy boiled raison pancake.

Anywhere in Newfoundland or is this like a Gander or Dildo or St. John's thing?

I was living in Alberta at the time but every newfy I knew (dozens) talked about it and they where from all over the island so I think its pretty common everywhere. They also love "sruncheons" which is hardtack bread fried in bacon greese. I'd avoid that one.
