Anyone not allowed to have chickens?

Hey y’all I just bought a house in February and I was excited to raise chickens. I am getting prepared to put a living space for them together when I decided to check my local municipality. Apparently I am not allowed to have chickens even though I live on a 1+ acre lot. I called and asked how it is enforced and they said they don’t search they just go based off complaints from neighbors.

Anyone else in this boat? I am probably going to still keep chickens next year anyway and just talk to my neighbors about it and offer them eggs to keep quiet about it. Ironically I see people with eggs for sale signs who are on smaller lots than me. I just dont want the police to come and shoot my chickens and cats.

Word from the wise: Welsummers, while beautiful and in my experience gentle birds, are very noisy. They sing an egg song anytime someone lays and carry on for ~5 minutes. My neighbors must love me at 6 am on saturdays. 😬
