Looking for a Toslink to USB converter USA - RECOMMENDATIONS

I plan on using a minidsp 2x4 HD which has a Toslink and mini usb B input. I wanted to connect both my tv and a chromecast audio but both have Toslink outputs. Is there a Toslink to USB converter existence? I was having trouble finding one. Let me know if anyone has any recommendations!

If you don't mind an extra component (and step when selecting a source), look for a toslink switch that you can connect both sources to and send its output to the 2x4HD. Something like a 2 in, 1 out would do the trick.

If you prefer not to have another component/switch, you could use the toslink and the RCA inputs of the 2x4HD (ignoring the USB port). If your TV has a toslink output, it may also have either RCA out or a headphone jack.

Based on my understanding of your situation and question, there is no such thing as the usb/toslink converter you want to find.

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems that a toslink switch is the way to go. I was trying to avoid another remote to use but I think that will be the only way.

I understand not wanting another remote. :-/

Now that my brain is a bit more awake, I think I can explain the USB thing a bit better.

Thinking of that USB port as an "input" like the other inputs (optical and RCA) is where you got mixed up. Though it is, technically, a way to get audio in, think of the 2x4HD as a USB sound card...that also happens to have optical and RCA inputs and a bunch of processing capability. This means you'd need a computer (or some other "master" or "host" device) that the 2x4HD could work with. Said another way, it isn't that they just pass audio signals over a USB connector. That's why there is no "adapter".
