Doctor says my cholesterol is way too high Lab Result
Im a 30year old Caucasian male. 6ft tall, 170lbs. Family history of high cholesterol
- Total = 245(mg/dl)
- HDL = 60
- LDL = 163
- Triglycerides = 106
I didnt fast before this sample but even so im scared by this. Doctor recommended i cut out sat fats and added sugar. I already exercise vigorously 5-6 days a week so theres only so much I can do. Hopefully it will go down after i clean up my diet a bit

If you didn't fast... re-test. Your body makes 80% of your cholesterol, it doesn't come from your food. Even if you were entirely vegetarian, you can easily have high cholesterol. Just because you exercise, eat right etc doesn't mean you won't get high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cancer or a variety of other ailments.

I’m 10 years older than you and have nearly identical stats as of the beginning of August. I weight 40lbs more at the same height. Only difference in the stats was that my tris were 89. I completely stopped drinking alcohol. Only meat I now eat is chicken and fish. I consume tons of berries with a plant protein shake. Eat oatmeal, apples, and lentils. I supplement with soy lecithin which is said to be very helpful. Not sure if I’ll retest in September or October to see updated stats. My weight is barely changing even though I do strength training and cardio for 90 minutes 6 days a week. I do know body composition is changing as the abs are beginning to show.

What's your family history of heart disease? If you've had male relatives drop dead from heart attacks at the age of 55, I'd take this very seriously.

Everyone dies in their 70s from dementia (a separate issue) 😂. No heart attacks thankfully

I've seen studies of high cholesterol being linked to dementia (due to decreased blood flow to the brain), so it might not be as separate as you think.

Yes…. Might want to have your APOE checked.

You need to cut down on processed foods and fast sugars, eat more veggies, cut down on meat and dairy. Basically a WFPB diet is going to do wonders.

it's ok - i have similar numbers (just marginal better) but in all honesty, it ain't too bad.
improve your diet - cut down on meat, eat greens, avoid processed food when you can.
that being said, enjoy those delicious unhealthy food still every once in a while.
it is a process - hopefully your next reading will improve.
