They ain’t watching Penny Hardaway film. Be real, he got into AAU based on his rep and Memphis hired him for that. These kids know he’s a great NBA player but they don’t know him for jack shit he did in the NBA. They never watched a second of his career.
Are you really going to compare Michael Jordan’s tape to Penny? Don’t be asinine. Even if he did anything beyond watch MJs highlights, he’s not committing to Memphis bc of Pennys NBA tape.
Penny was a middle school basketball coach before he was an AAU coach. And coached them to a state title. Did the same at the High School level where he was an assistant for the first 2 years and the last one as head coach. College was his next challenge. He didn’t just walk in on his name. Dude has been grinding to be that next championship winning coach.
Discount him all you want, he could have laid back and enjoyed his millions, but when his friend needed his help as he was undergoing cancer treatment, Penny put his work sneakers back on and started coaching 10 years ago.
Okay. That’s an extremely long paragraph to say that his NBA career has no impact on these kids.
Trust me bro, there’s 0 impact from it, which I’ve been saying the entire time, and you’ve confirmed.
His hard work got him there and his AAU connections have done the recruiting.
The downvotes are hilarious. I’ve never said he can’t coach, just that these kids didn’t watch him in the NBA and only know of him through their dads and what others have said about him. You guys are so butthurt.
