What does the colour of his skin matter, if it's an artefact found in that location surely it has more claim to be in a museum of that area?

How? A troll doesn't show beliefs. Trolls just say whatever will get a reaction. They're lying on the internet to make people upset. And even more pointedly, they do not in any way represent the attitude of the userbase. In fact, the less racist the whole of reddit is, the more likely for you to see racist trolls (because they'd know that they'd get more of a reaction if they go against general beliefs)
