I'm American and I visited the British Museum when going to Egypt isn't really on the table.

I'm not sure that having artifacts all lumped together in a museum is such a bad thing? Means you can appreciate them all at once rather than like one or two at a time. Plus they're preserved and taken care of. Personally I'm not sure I'd feel terribly upset if the Liberty Bell or Declaration of Independence was displayed overseas. If more people can see and appreciate it, isn't that a good thing?

I dont really mind them being here or there. Especially if the items get to travel multiple museums and dont just sit around in one.

But having half a statue just seems a bit pointless. In this particular case id argue either we send back the top half or they send us the base :')

I think I would be upset if the American history was stored overseas (especially by the British, I mean the irony would be insane) because unlike Egypt, most of our stuff is in its own museum. Egypt isn't exactly having these things maintained.

Displayed overseas, not taken and labeled as British and refuse to even lend them to Egypt.

Dude.

Just go to Egypt. It’s not dangerous. If you did, you’d probably understand that seeing something in a museum and seeing it where it’s supposed to be are two completely different things.

I do not want to go to Egypt. It's not about the dangerous aspect, I just have no desire to go there.
