I'm lost, what happened now?

113

u/aj6787 Aug 18 '22

Nothing OP just wanted some easy karma.

14

u/passerby_panda Aug 18 '22

Did it even work?

Edit, forgot the numbers can go both ways lol

3

u/yodaman1 Aug 18 '22

What is, when user comments have more upboats than the original post.

1

u/evolvaer Aug 18 '22

Easy karma? You got more than him. Reddit loves biden and shits on any talk of independent voting.

1

u/aj6787 Aug 18 '22

Well at the time of my comment they had much more than 0 lol

8

u/TheWayNorth Aug 18 '22

You know who is worse than Joe Biden?

Donald Trump.

That guy is a piece of shit.

u/jollyroger1720 Aug 18 '22 edited Aug 19 '22

Sad but true we have accepted low standards.

🤪h noes Downvote dodo 🦤 mad

116

u/LongSpoke Aug 18 '22

Wouldn't it be awesome if "Fuck Joe Biden" becomes the bipartisan bridge that brings the Country back together

99

u/eaTurk1 Aug 18 '22

Yes or "Fuck Democrats, and Fuck Republicans" when everyone realizes that both parties are full of shit and are really the same party.

53

u/LongSpoke Aug 18 '22 Helpful

I think "Fuck the two-party duopoly" is the movement you are looking for.

11

u/LowBeautiful1531 Aug 18 '22

Two wings, one stinky bird.

7

u/TemetNosce85 Aug 18 '22

Hi! I noticed you said "both sides" when the right side was being criticized. If you truly believe both sides are the same, can you link to a single post in the history of your account where the left side was being criticized and you responded with "both sides?" Just a single one will be fine.

16

u/Paige404_Games Aug 18 '22

Impossible, there is no left wing party in the US

-3

u/evolvaer Aug 18 '22

Cool repeated corporate talking point as an actual thought.

1

u/eaTurk1 2d ago

No because I don't hate both sides equally. I think the left is bat shit crazy stupid, and the right is just crazy stupid.

1

u/eaTurk1 2d ago

And by the way since you're so interested in my comment history, go back 5 months and read my response to a post about Biden being blamed for inflation and I responded with a similar both sides response. You're welcome...

0

u/Pandonia42 Aug 18 '22

Both sides are not the same, but I think we can all agree here that they are united in fucking over the average American to benefit the wealthy, and that was OP's intent.

-4

u/Soleniae Aug 18 '22

r/EndFPTP

r/ForwardPartyUSA

There's more communities on the topic, but those are the primary ones (pardon the pun)

17

u/Unforg1ven_Yasuo Aug 18 '22

The “forward party” and Andrew Yang are jokes. Obviously the two party duopoly is bad but Yang is a grifter, and choosing to have no public opinion on issues like Roe v Wade is choosing to side with the oppressor. I agree that we need the duopoly to end but Yang is not the future.

5

u/evolvaer Aug 18 '22

The forward party is made up of repubs and some dems, why would a party of corrupt repubs and dems be any different lol

11

u/tennvic Aug 18 '22

Forward Party wants to make compromises between democrats AND republicans.

No thank you. I don’t compromise with my oppressors.

-3

u/aj6787 Aug 18 '22

They aren’t

0

u/zodar Aug 18 '22

Yes, both parties want to ban abortion, roll back LGBTQ+ rights, and have anti-Mexican and anti-Arab Muslim racism as part of their party platforms.

Both parties voted against caps on insulin costs.

Both parties just finally passed a law to address climate change.

Such a well informed opinion.

0

u/TheWayNorth Aug 18 '22

How are they both the same party? One party wants to kill women’s right? They also don’t believe in climate change. They also want to kill social safety nets. They also want to cut taxes for the corporations and rich while raising taxes on the middle class and poor. They also want to strip voting rights away as much as possible and have conducted an attempted coup to stop the transition of administrations.

And then the other side is the Democratic Party.

Give me a break on “both sides being the same”. Jesus.

1

u/Winter-Amphibian1469 Aug 19 '22

They both work for the rich and against commoners like you and I. They use masquerades such as “culture wars” to give the illusion of action. It’s all theater.

1

u/TheWayNorth Aug 19 '22

No it isn’t all theater. Yes they both are captured to some degree by the rich (exceptions being the progressive wing of the Democratic Party).

Culture war bullshit aside, they are not both the same. Period.

We may have a lot of complaints about the passion and pace of the Dems to commit to change but at least they aren’t actively trying to take the US back in time like the GOP is.

One side believes in science while the other refers to Q-anon horseshit and peddles out conspiracy theories to justify why their cult leader had his house raided.

The other side may have Manchin and Sinema, but at least there is a chance of progression with Democrats and a definitive zero chance of them trying to kill women’s rights, gay rights, voting rights, etc. Just look at the pandemic and how the REPUBLICANS wanted to re-open society during its height back in 2020. They don’t care about anything but big business. Democrats may be beholden to Wall Street as well but they do show restraint in going all in on the corporate kool aid because they know they have a tighter rope to walk with factions in their party.

Sure, we may not be getting our student debt thing sorted out the way we like—but if you think the other side will even contemplate helping you out, you are mistaken.

I am not saying Democrats are some brilliant loving, amazing party. I agree, they are frustrating and deeply flawed. But they are the best choice we have and, compared to the alternative, the only option to protect democracy at this point.

EDIT: added “REPUBLICANS”

1

u/Winter-Amphibian1469 Aug 19 '22

All this “defend democracy” jargon means nothing when we live in an oligarchy that’s maintained by both Capitalist parties; even worse when Democrats fight to get Green Party candidates off the ballot. You’re just making excuses for corruption via whataboutism.

“Progressive wing” of the party…lol.

1

u/North_Activist Aug 19 '22

And your grand solution is…..? How do we get back to a democracy?

1

u/Winter-Amphibian1469 Aug 19 '22

We never were a democracy.

1

u/North_Activist Aug 19 '22

I say again, and your grand solution is....? To write Reddit comments?

1

u/Winter-Amphibian1469 Aug 19 '22

I don’t have one. All I can do is try and open peoples’ eyes to reality. Some like you would rather bury their heads in the sand and believe in these corrupt institutions.

I mean, you would hope "Fuck Trump" would be that bridge. But no, because insane people exist.

10

u/evolvaer Aug 18 '22

The real insanity is pinning all your hate and fears on one man, instead of the class of people who always vote and act against the interest of the masses.

5

u/Diocleatian Aug 18 '22

I agree, no more parties and their bullshit.

2

u/C0sm1c_J3lly Aug 18 '22

Sadly itA’s more likely to bring another reign of Trump. But, yes it would be amazing if it happened!

1

u/Thecatofirvine Aug 18 '22

I mean technically he will “bring this country together again” haha

-5

u/DonrajSaryas Aug 18 '22

Imagine if the Democrats impeached him for his alleged sex crimes. It would be the most bipartisan decision in decades.

4

u/JaydeRaven Aug 18 '22

Meanwhile, republicans didn’t do that to trump despite numerous actual allegations with court cases underway, nor Matt Gaetz, nor Dennis Hastert, nor Jim Jones, and so on…

36

u/brbmycatexploded Aug 18 '22

He’s the most republican democrat, I don’t get how people are shocked now that he’s basically a closeted conservative

5

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

He’s still one of the most legislatively successful presidents since LBJ all with a 50-50 senate. You can disagree about policy but you can’t argue he isn’t doing anything

7

u/Visual_Ad_3840 Aug 18 '22

Watered-down useless legislation isn't doing anything. . . except for private industry. To think otherwise is daft.

0

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

Cause cutting US emissions by 40% is pointless. Oh and spending money fixing infustructure is also pointless. And giving veterans healthcare also pointless. And bringing in investment to chip manufacturers providing American jobs also pointless.

It’s like you want him to fail

5

u/Bind_Moggled Aug 18 '22
  • no action on voting rights
  • no police reform
  • Individual 1 still walks free
  • little to no action on healthcare
  • no student loan relief

1

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

No student loan relief? Uh hes forgave nearly $70 billion in student loan relief. Just yesterday he did more.

No action on healthcare? He is doing everything in executive power to allow women to have reproductive health rights, and passed a law giving veterans greater healthcare coverage.

Not to mention he’s passed a trillion dollar infustructure bill, a 2/3 trillion in climate and healthcare spending, the CHIPS act, and much much more. A lot of that was in the past couple weeks.

1

u/Bind_Moggled Aug 20 '22

None of it means jack squat if voting rights aren't secured, and fascists are allowed to ignore the results of elections.

0

u/North_Activist Aug 21 '22

Actually it means a lot of you want people to vote for the party that would deliver voting rights if given more then a dead 50-50 split

9

u/evolvaer Aug 18 '22

I absolutely can argue he isnt doing anything. He has not fulfilled a single campaign promise

0

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

The infustructure deal? Climate action? Veterans Healthcare? Student loan forgiveness? He’s done quite a bit even if it’s not all he promised. Remember he’s only at the beginning and has a 50-50 senate where he can’t pass much

8

u/laxnut90 Aug 18 '22

By what metric?

The Dems have passed almost nothing in 2 years. This recent "Climate Bill" has a lot of spending in it, but it gives more money to oil companies than to renewables, so the name is misleading.

It also increases government spending while cutting corporate taxes, so calling it an "Inflation Reduction Bill" is laughable to anyone with more than a 5th grade math education.

2

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

The IRA put a 15% corporate tax, so no it’s not cutting taxes. It’s also reducing the deficit which reduces government spending overall

1

u/laxnut90 Aug 18 '22

They created a 15% minimum corporate tax which is less than the existing corporate tax.

In other words, instead of going after these corporations for tax avoidance, they just lower the bar and hope these companies will please pay, for real this time.

2

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

A 15% minimum is not 15% maximum. They still have other corporate taxes.

Hence the word “minimum”

2

u/laxnut90 Aug 18 '22

If you think any of those multinational corporations will pay one cent more because of that farce of a bill, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

2

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

So what exactly is your solution then? Do nothing?

1

u/laxnut90 Aug 18 '22

Send the IRS after them. Enforce the laws we already have. Throw some of these white collar criminals in jail.

Lowering the taxes so they will maybe pay this time if we ask them nicely is not a solution.

2

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

Biden just got the IRS billions in funding to target those making more than 400k.

Again they didn’t lower taxes, they increased taxes. A MINIMUM tax.

7

u/fosiacat Aug 18 '22

how much of it is useful?

like the “environment” bill that was a handout to oil companies, that legislation?

3

u/evolvaer Aug 18 '22

Its for people who dont think much beyond vote dem to feel good about themselves as their guy does the same bad stuff as trump.

This environment bill has been called a suicide pact by conservation leaders. Tying green energy to massive oil and coal industries.

1

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

Really? You’re actually comparing a wannabe dictator who committed crimes left right and centre, violated the ESPIONAGE act, and incited insurrection on the US capital and another part of the government, you’re comparing that guy to the one who gave greater healthcare to veterans, invested over a trillion into infustructure, and 2/3 of a trillion to climate change which will reduce emissions by 40%.

How you can compte the two is beyond me, but it’s pathetic and self sabotaging to think that it makes any sense.

2

u/TheWayNorth Aug 19 '22

Some people genuinely can’t see the big picture. Biden isn’t FDR, but my god, it’s amazing how they would seem him bad like Trump was.

Let’s not forget that Biden has also continued to extend the pause of student loans as well multiple times. It isn’t like he hasn’t done anything…

1

u/evolvaer Aug 18 '22

Is it beyond you, dear friend? Revel as I explain to you how other ethnic groups and minorities can have a different experience of something you are completely comfortable with.

Biden voted for the war in iraq and US occupation that went on to utterly destroy my country and lead to a million lives lost.

He has also pulled out of afghanistan as trump decided as well, but chosen to freeze the nation's wealth in banks thus causing starvation and record humanitarian crisis.

God bless you, comfortable white american for never having to see the mass terror and suffering the people you feel good about voting for have inflicted upon the rest of us.

Beyond you indeed...

-1

u/North_Activist Aug 19 '22

So what’s your solution then? Would you prefer a president who would sell nuclear secrets and put the entirety of global security at risk for personal gain?

The Iraq war was nearly 20 years ago and there was a lot of misinformation in the media at the time hyping it up. He made a mistake.

You talk about different racial minorities having different experiences and yes I understand that. But you know what would cause mass starvation, mass terror, and suffering? A nuclear war.

I never said Biden was a saint, I said he was a much better alternative. Get your head out of the sand and realize the world is bigger than your racial status, Afghanistan, and a war fought almost 20 years ago.

Criticize him for his actions yes, that’s how democracy works. But you’re absolutely delusional if you think trump would be a better president for global security.

1

u/Winter-Amphibian1469 Aug 19 '22

Privileged and brainwashed by neoliberalism.

0

u/TheWayNorth Aug 19 '22

You think Biden is bad like Trump?

Oh brother, give me a break.

1

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

You mean the environment bill that overall has a net effect of 40% carbon reduction?? If you can’t see that as a win then your pathetic. You are self sabotaging climate action by your whining.

YES it sucks oil companies get hand outs. But in the end it’s still a HUGE reduction in carbon emissions.

Do you want something perfect that would never pass Congress or do you actually want to make a difference? The climate bill was the biggest investment EVER in climate action from any country. It’s a MASSIVE deal

2

u/fosiacat Aug 18 '22

lol ok cnn

1

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

40% carbon reduction IS useful. What would your solution be?

1

u/fosiacat Aug 18 '22

to not keep taking bullshit half steps acting as if we have the time.

this bullshit democrat party is acting like there's all the time in the world to "work up" to doing something meaningful. giving away millions of acres of land to continually destroy the environment "yeah but it's also kind of helpful!" isn't fucking helpful.

the "inflation act" budget is 4% of the pentagon budget. 4.

REQUIRING 2 million acres of federal land, and 60 million of offshore for more fucking oil drilling, AND on top of that if they fall short, they are not permitted to continue with wind farms on federal land, is not a fucking climate bill, i don't care what kind of fucking mental gymnastics you need to do to spin that CNN bullshit.

no rail funding. no public transit funding. cars. cars. cars. kickbacks for oil producers. nothing for the fucking environment.

the permian basin is releasing hundreds of thousands of kilos of methane right now -- what fucking good is a 40% "net" gain, when that net gain could be monumentally larger when we do not have the fucking time to spare?

fucking dumb libtards believing the bullshit the DNC feeds you is really the pathetic thing here. "ACKSHULLY, giving away literally 100 million acres of environment so that we can burn more oil is a GOOD thing, acosta said so!" fuck outta here.

also, "you're"* pathetic.

moron biden is approving more drilling than trump did. but yeah, DNC are the good guys, the ones that really care about the environment, right?

2

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

I’m not a fan of democrats, I agree they can do so much better and Biden isn’t the best president.

But you’re living in fantasy land if you think Biden could’ve passed an entirely green climate bill with a 50-50 senate, two of whom are extremely conservative. Not to mention they can only do funding, not actual legislation because they don’t have the votes to break a filibuster

1

u/fosiacat Aug 18 '22

ahh, you mean because of kyrsten sinema? the person that biden endorsed over a progressive challenger?

whose fucking fault is that? you think this isn't deliberate? again, delusional.

it's two sides of the same team.

you think the DNC are upset about manchin? you think they couldn't destroy him if they /wanted/ to? look at the effort they put into killing bernie sanders - clearly it's possible. he's the rotating villain. sinema is a bonus.

the quicker all these morons realize that the DNC sucks as bad as the GOP does, and start voting for ISSUES not parties, the quicker anything can get done. but to sit and make excuses for the DNC because mean ol manchin and sinema is fucking retarded, THEY CAUSED manchin and sinema.

2

u/North_Activist Aug 18 '22

You’re delusional if you think the Dems are “just as bad” as domestic terrorists who tried to violently overthrow a democratic election.

Policies don’t matter in a fascist state. Democrats are infinitely better than republicans. That doesn’t mean they’re great, but to say they’re remotely similar is abhorrent

→ More replies

2

u/brbmycatexploded Aug 18 '22

Well I quite literally never argued that, so I’m not sure what your point is.

4

u/KuhliBao Aug 18 '22

Thank you for the spoiler tag. I almost read it but I dont think im at that part of the American saga yet.

5

u/watermelonspanker Aug 18 '22

I totally agree. Though to be clear my priorities when it comes to debt reliefe would be:

1 - Fuck fascism and the current fascist conservative movement including congressional proponents. Destroying representative government would eliminate this movement and many others summarily.

2 - Fuck the two party, first past the post, gerrymandered to hell system and the people who have molded it thusly. Goes hand in hand with 4 on both a state and a national level

3 - Fuck JoBo for completely living up to the utterly disappointing expectations that many of us had. But mostly fuck him and the DNC for pushing his candidacy despite much better available candidates.

4 - Fuck congress for representing themselves above their constituent in matters of education and more.

There are other people I'd like to tell to fuck off, such as my student loan provider, but the distinction from the above categories is that, at least at the moment, I have the opportunity to vote in order to, ideally, remedy such problems. And I'd encourage my fellow debt-srikers to consider doing similarly.

10

u/lego_vader Aug 18 '22

Is that your only complaint?

2

u/Visual_Ad_3840 Aug 18 '22

$3 billion out of $1.74TRILLION (and all for tangentially related "schools," ZERO public debt cancellation.)

Yeah, Biden and the Dems are greedy, industry leeches. Fuck them.

4

u/dehydratedbagel Aug 18 '22

4

u/Visual_Ad_3840 Aug 18 '22

Yes, it's performative and helps .000001% of debtors while not addressing the actual problem.

1

u/BelAirGhetto Aug 18 '22

Fuck you is the proper response?

3

u/maximusprime2328 Aug 18 '22

He cancelled debt from predatory, for profit colleges. He was righting a wrong, not doing anyone any favors.

He's far, far, far from fixing the problem of funding higher education and getting students loans under control. That debt will be back in no time.

3

u/jollyroger1720 Aug 18 '22 edited Aug 18 '22

Roughly 100 🖕 for every 🤗 so fsr he has about corrected 1% of problems so maybe 500,000 hardworking taxpaying everyday Americans are free which is great for them however approximately 44,500,000 hardworking taxpaying everyday Americans still face looming rextortion by yacht hoarding tax dodging oligarchs as punishment for going to school thet is not ok.

I get dump/devos did even worse bit for the vast majority of former students it's like being stabbed is better then shot. True but unacceptable. Se thos on healthcare, imcomr inequality a whole host of issues. When it comes to reproductive/civil rights etc there is a more appreaciable difference between the two parties

Unlike healthcare etc Biden can unilaterially fix student debt (and weed) but is so far has refused. Manchin and the open republicans cannot stop Biden of he chooses to help real people by abolishing socialized loansharking

6

u/evolvaer Aug 18 '22

What tangible difference has he made in anyone's life? Cancelling less than 1% of student debt...

7

u/L4dyGr4y Aug 18 '22

I haven’t seen any debt canceled. I voted for him because of the loan forgiveness.

1

u/BelAirGhetto Aug 18 '22

6

u/laxnut90 Aug 18 '22

Out of how many trillions? That 4 billion will barely cover a month of interest on the whole student loan pile when payments resume.

0

u/BelAirGhetto Aug 18 '22

Well, “fuck you” as a response to canceling 4 billion?

Are we not better than that?

3

u/Visual_Ad_3840 Aug 18 '22

Haha, student loan debt is is $1.75 TRILLION, so that's like a couple pennies for PRIVATE schools. None for public debt. There's hasn't been any public debt cancellation.

Biden is such an evil joke.

1

u/BelAirGhetto Aug 18 '22

But, fuck you?

3

u/Chinpokomonz Aug 18 '22

specifically for people who already knew they overpaid ITT tech.

very small, nearly insignificant "forgiveness"

2

u/Big_Requirement6818 Aug 18 '22

Plus that school went bankrupt a few years ago. I know two nurses who got their loans discharged right after it happened at the school in Fl anyway, so it's not even a "new" forgiveness.

u/Zevhis Aug 22 '22
