I absolutely adore small animals next to larger animals. I think it’s the sense of scale that makes me love it more.

My cat is fluffy as heck, often presents the poofy fluffy belly, and is super chill. You bet your ass I take off my glasses and shove my face in his belly DAILY. Urgh!!!!!!

You kind of have to. It is so soothing.

Random fact: Cat purrs can improve bone density and promote healing, due to their frequency of 25 to 150 hertz.

I was having really intense pain in my ear (that ended up rupturing my ear drum!) and I was lying in bed crying, trying desperately to fall asleep but couldn't. My cat jumped up onto the bed and laid with his body pressed up against my head near the side the hurt and purred like a fucking engine. It was loud and soft and it distracted me enough from the pain that I fell asleep. First thing in the morning I went to the doctor for antibiotics which helped bring the pain down. Yay for cats and modern medicine :)

Good for you :)

Cats are man’s best bros.

Growing up I had just the sweetest cat ever. I still remember vividly growing up how when I felt sick or was upset she would , almost without fail, curl up with me and purr for a while to make me feel better.

Anyone who says cats don't care has never owned one.

Nice, I have a cat who likes to sleep with her forehead to mine and purr away. I know I sleep so much better when she does it. And if I have a headache it just goes away.

Thanks for the random fact.

NP :)

They are quite underrated.

To clarify: there's a study that suggests that purring might promote bone growth and healing in the purring cat itself (https://asa.scitation.org/doi/abs/10.1121/1.4777098)

Vibration therapy for humans is a real thing (see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4458848/ for example), in fact that's one of the reasons why the study linked above thinks that purring might serve a self-healing function in cats, however the vibrational energy that a purring house cat produces is far to low to have a significant effect on a human that's much more masssive and heavier than the cat. The vibrations used in vibration therapy are more around the "standing on a big subwoofer" level that makes your whole body visibly vibrate.

Interesting. So, they’re basically using giant, mechanical cat throats, I guess.

I have also heard that petting cats can help lower blood pressure, and ease anxiety due to the purr. Anecdotally - which people on Reddit hate, I would say that is 100% correct in my case
