Just put in my two weeks with my boss and she’s being a gigantic dick about it - can I just leave whenever?

I have been an assistant at a small, shitty talent agency for the past month. My boss is a real jerk, yells for no reason and micromanages the hell out of her assistants. She’s the type to scream at you for stapling something wrong and call you an idiot but not say anything if you stay late to do extra work. The company is also very poorly run, assistants stay for an average of maybe 2-3 months before they leave.

I just got a job at a way, way better company with much better pay, benefits, and company culture. It’s in digital media rather than traditional.

I told my boss that I would be leaving at the end of next week and she flipped out. She said I would “stay as long as it takes to find and train my replacement” and that I can’t “leave her high and dry”. I’m an at-will employee, I could literally leave today if I wanted to.

I’m okay with finding and training someone, but I’m out of here at the end of next week. Obviously because the company is tiny, there’s no HR or anything.

I’m kind of worried she’s going to treat me like shit for the remainder of my time here. My fellow assistants tell me that if she does, I should just send her a stack of resumes and say “figure it out”.

What should I do?
