[NEWS] The first-ever Gibson Les Paul – owned by the man himself – is going up for auction NEWS

According to Guitar World, it "will be sold as part of Christie's Exceptional Sales lot in New York, which takes place October 13".

This would be more like if…your mate down the street was an absolutely world class guitarist and brilliant innovator and inventor…and he teamed up with Gibson guitars (and was lucky enough to catch them at a rare moment in their history when they actually gave a shit about making good instruments)…and then the best luthiers in the world built it by hand using the best wood and parts available at the time…and then the design was so great that it has been effectively untouched in the 70 years since.

Not the same as a glossy machine built Indonesian epiphone.

Not trying to be a dick. Those 50s Gibson’s were great instruments though. Far better than anything Gibson is doing today.
