I’m not even sure where they get their news from but the trump supporters I know all seem to believe that it’s only vaxxed people getting omicron and only vaxxed people being hospitalized now.
They all seem to know someone who died or was permanently injured due to the vaccine. I know it’s BS but they’re all getting their info at the same place.

They all know someone who knows someone who had X catastrophic outcome from the vaccine, but when they talk to others about it, they cut out the middle man and say they themselves know the someone who had X catastrophic outcome from the vaccine. But they don't realize that the someone they actually do know did the exact same thing, and so did the someone before that, and so they've all been citing some anecdote made up by someone dozens of degrees removed from them. And since the end of the political spectrum that is most likely to believe this nonsense are already the same people who are more likely to regard anecdotal evidence as factual, they're completely unbothered by citing something they, or anyone else, can't possibly verify.
It's fascinating, but it's also terrifying.

I think at least some get the idea that there is this big anti-white movement because they live in curated bubbles that misrepresents "the other side" as hating their identity. It lands on fertile soil because it's just a mirror image of what they feel and believe. The heart of their opposition to Critical Race Theory (CRT) is that it says it’s not ok to be white. But of course CRT does not mention whites as a source of racism in America. It simply points out that American society, right from its inception, has embraced racism it how it governs itself (both in law and attitude). Whether it’s the founders who considered blacks as 3/5ths of a person to racism against the Irish, Chinese, Jews, Japanese etc etc.
So when CRT says American society has always been racist (systemic) these fuckers equate it as saying whites are racist, because they believe that American society is white at its core, which is of course, racist as fuck.

I think a lot of HCA awardees are just fulfilling their own mission: if you get this and die, you were weak, and you ought to be dead. The "weak people deserve to die" philosophy is central to the contemporary Republican party. If you listen to a guy like John Schmitz, who was considered too radical right to be a Republican during the Nixon administration, that's just what our modern Republican legislators are saying now. Fifty years ago, it would've been radical to, say, gut the EPA.
Anyway, I digress. What I'm saying is, I don't think anyone chooses to be this ignorant and cruel on purpose. I pity most people who vote against access to healthcare. Though they have allowed it, they have been commodified by an oligarchy.
