At least his wife isn't blaming the healthcare workers

168

u/powabiatch Jul 27 '22

She seems like a decent person

145

u/KittenWithaWhip68 Jul 28 '22 edited Jul 28 '22

She does, the post announcing his death had more dignity than most of the ones I read here. Not riddled with spelling and grammar errors, no sounding like it was written by a nine year old, no asking for donations online, no whining for prayers, no mention of God at all, no political bullshit or (as another poster said) blaming the healthcare workers, pretty loving and classy post which is more than I can say for most of them.

In fact, this is the most graceful post I’ve seen on the sub. Better than all the greedy stupid shitty ones put together (which I realize is not saying much, but still). I’m not sorry he died on a ventilator, one less MAGAT, but other than saying “thanks for the prayers” there was no prayer warrior bullshit. I actually hope she does not drown in debt, and this is the first time I’ve ever said anything even close to that on this sub.

Now HIM on the other hand… I have zero sympathy. I couldn’t even look at most of his social media posts because I don’t want to be any more enraged than I already am.

49

u/nj-rose Jul 28 '22

I know at least two women who are Democrats and married to MAGA assclowns. I don't know how they do it. This may be the case here.

My grandmother is one. What she believes is different from what she does (she voted for trump round 1) because she always puts a man's word first. It's really fucking sad. She lost her husband a few years ago, and has been on roll recently with finding more asshole boomer men who kick dogs and vote for Trump. Drives us insane as a family.

The one thing I can think of is that the Facebook that is shown on this post is different from the one the wife knew. With personalized feeds, one person could see their friends from 20 years ago and their 2nd cousin who lives across the country, and the other can be fed russian troll accounts.

Maybe she thinks the time he spent of Facebook was a lot more wholesome than it really was?

15

u/banksy_h8r My key fob says the battery is low 🔑 Jul 28 '22

This is a good insight, and an important thing to remember: everyone experiences a different Facebook. It may as well be completely separate services with the same features but different culture and vibe.

This is the danger with products and services that are personalized by algorithms, it's impossible for the public to build consensus around them because everyone experiences them differently.

Of course, every bin was tiny, so they had to change them out every few minutes. It was a lot less grody than normal buffets. From the sound of it, though, food prices are so unstable that they won't bring it back, even apart from COVID concerns.

22

u/substandardpoodle Schrödinger’s Bounce Jul 27 '22

Oooo - last week while going down a Reddit rabbit hole that started with Shinzo Abe: turns out that the Moonie cult controls most sushi-grade fish at US restaurants. Zoiks.

So I thinking: must be just the big ones. Nope. One comment was “My friend tried to start a sushi place and not use Unification Church fish but found it almost impossible.”

Holy shit. The Maguro Mafia. That's bonkers.

My friend's mom told me a crazy story about winding up in the woods at a Moonie compound eating tuna fish sandwiches after she was promised a "free introductory day retreat with full catering." She said they were every bit as loony as you'd expect, and she wound up having to fast-talk her way out and hitchhike home. The funny thing is, she wound up joining a new agey religious movement that some people have called a cult; so when she says the Moonies are a crazy cult, she means it.

When i asked her why (because again, my grandparents are loony & in another state and have no business voting...) she PROUDLY told me she was going to vote for trump and mail the ballots in for them. I told her that was illegal and she told me 'So what? This is the only way we can stop the democrats from stealing the election'. I wanted to slap her i was so mad.

When the ballots finally arrived via mail, i wrote 'Return to sender, not at this address' on them and sent them back. I told my mom they never showed up. My mother is an awful person. In hindsight, i should have let her mail them in then turned her in for fraud. Oh well... Next time!

Isn’t Thomas Jefferson on Mt Rushmore? He was a Democrat-Republican. What about Teddy Roosevelt. He was a Progressive.

Political parties change over time but I am damn sure Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and TR would NOT belong to today’s Christofascist GOP.

17

u/PoliticalECMOChamber Super Shedder Jul 27 '22

They also wouldn't be today's progressives, but as you say, things change over time.

5

u/StolenRelic I trust my Midi-chlorians Jul 28 '22

It breaks their brains. They can't handle change. They truly believe that Republicans in Lincoln's day are the same as they are now. They don't realize that the Southern racist democrats of old infiltrated and seized the party. Much like their view of Christianity. They can't fathom that it has also changed over time. The spiritual beliefs of the founding fathers are not comparable to that of today. Today's beliefs have a strong footing in the plantation/slave system.

It's funny to watch some of them go silent. When I tell them many of the founding fathers believed in the plurality of worlds. Many were vigorously opposed to anything resembling doctrine or religion at all finding its way into any semblance of government. I would wager that the majority have never read two sentences about anything.

Why do these dumbfucks always call themselves/their dumbfuck relatives "warriors"? What EXACTLY were they fighting against, other than fact and reason? Ugh.

Wife sounded nice and also expressed gratitude to the hospital staff . (most don't, they only thank the prayer warriors). A polite post. Cannot fault it.

Unfortunately hubs didn't care enough about her to take care of his health and now she is grieving and hurting really bad.

These people hurt themselves and their loved ones, yet seem to spend their time and effort trying to "offend liberals" on Facebook. I wonder if they think about that........ever?

That smug meme of his though: "10 years from now we'll be hearing infomercials starting with 'if you took the Covid vaccine you could be liable for compansation'..."

The meme made the assumption that the vaccinated lived for a further 10 years which was more than could be said for him...

Call me a shapeist but it's good that DILF has another explanation because sure as hell it did not make sense with T-Shirt that size. Kids could go camping in it.

Also, call me a shapeist but do these people have tar mirrors at home? Or do they think they're fine because they can walk across the house at a bright pace?

You ain't healthy, bud. Face it. If you don't wanna go for a change of lifestyle, at least try not to run towards a disease that strains the cardiorespiratory system.

Oh but who am I kidding. You're sooner done punching them than teaching them.

I can't muster any sympathy for dilfter, but I feel for his wife. She seems genuine and caring, even if she spent her life attached to a shitty biggot.

I always feel deeply unsettled when I see people lie about the dead, even if it is a comforting lie, or a lie to make them seem better. After spending a life time together they can find nothing authentic or meaningful to say. No memory or image worth bringing to life aside from a false image to hide their shame even in passing. I guess they were a self absorbed burden, and may those that knew forgot that truth and find peace in false nostalgia.
