In the third picture he complains about a covid patent being filed in 2015 (“plandemic!!!”)- by including a picture of the patent record, clearly showing the filing date being in May, 2020. SMH.

u/95strat Aug 10 '22

Yeah. I spent more time than I care to admit trying to find 2015 on that form.

199

u/cmandr_dmandr Aug 10 '22

Lol, same here… I ended up looking up the patent and it is associated with another patent filed by the inventor back in 2015 titled “System and method for using, processing, and displaying biometric data”.

I wonder if the people who start these FB Q posts just see the date and immediately cease research or knowingly stop there because the date shown builds their narrative and no reason to dig deeper. They could also be trolls.

I can’t imagine basing my knowledge on some screenshots that need more JPEG.

That just shows the kind of blind rage and belief these people have. Desperately clinging to their original ideas that are clearly wrong but can't change. Willfully ignorant, all those highlights of "pertinent" info failed to highlight the filing date that was the most pertinent and the reason for the subject matter in the first place. Troglodyte isn't even a strong enough word for that kind of brazen stupidity.

The old "adapt or die" strikes again.

That is indeed the real patent, dated May, 2020. The 2015 date is the patent date for some of the prior art this patent relies on. In this case, it’s a patent for a biometric reporting system that has nothing to do with COVID. And Rothschild is a Dutch scientist. So of course he’s named Rothschild. It’s a common name.

Reminds me of years ago, before Facebook, when my aunt used to send the same sort of unresearched, snarky filth out by email to a large list of friends, which unfortunately included me. Sometimes I would hit "reply all" and correct the misinformation. One time she sent an email with a spreadsheet purporting to be from the Dept of Defense showing active duty military deaths by year. Her email whinged about how more soldiers died under Clinton than under Bush Jr. I had a look at the spreadsheet (still don't know its real origin) and it clearly showed the huge spike in active duty military deaths associated with the early days of the Gulf War. Not a single one of the forty-fifty other people on her list had apparently bothered to actually check the provided source (such as it was).

And on slide 3, he complains "a Rothchild filed for a COVID 19 [test] patent BACK IN 2015?!?!" Apart from the obvious anti-Semitism, if you just look down the slide, the patent was filed May 17, 2020, and published September 3, 2020.

What does he even mean by this? How can you not pay taxes? They ring sales tax up with your items at the store. You can't just refuse. If you don't pay income tax, they can put you in jail or garnish your wages/social security. Property taxes are paid with your mortgage but even if the house is paid off, they can take your house. In my state we pay taxes on our car. If we don't pay, we can't register the car.

This one stings a bit more. My mom has refused to get the vaccine despite being a senior citizen with a couple other risk factors. Our two young kids have only just now gotten vaccinated, and the younger daughter has had a few illnesses that have shown she could catch a cold even in solitary confinement! As such, we've not visited Grandma since the pandemic started, nor has she been allowed to visit here.

Grandma has not posted any anti-vax stuff; she's just mentioned her desire to avoid all the COVID vaccines repeatedly over the phone. She's repeated a few common tropes - scared of blood clotting, made from aborted babies, not safe - and, as such, she's lost any real connection to her only two grandchildren. The 7 year old gets confused as to which relative she is in pictures, and the 3.5 year old doesn't really know her at all other than pictures.

Failing to pass on your memories to the younger generations to own the libs.

On some level, she thinks she's making a sacrifice to benefit some powerful science idiot who will reward her for her obedience to conspiracy bat guano.

35

u/mcdreamymd Aug 10 '22

So much of it in my mom's case is her upbringing in the Western PA mountains. A VERY strong distrust of any government regulations flourishes in her youthful corner of Appalachia, stemming from decades of mining restrictions, runoff mitigation and aquifer contamination closing mines, plus the occasional hillbilly moonshine still or anything with farming. She's was just brought up among people who hate DC for various reasons, and as she's gotten older, she's become more like the very closed-minded people she once longed to escape. Combine that with the very anti-science bend of her cable TV choices and Redneck Riviera neighbors in panhandle Florida - she's a Trumpy in Trump Country who thinks Matt Gaetz is a fine young man (um, sex trafficker and possible murderer?!?!) and somehow I'M the dumb one???

I'm in a somewhat unique position in that I work in public health information, having been with Kaiser, the VA & HHS, done contract work with Regeneron, GSK and other biopharmaceuticals, plus I do freelance P/T in Washington DC news for the past 2 years. I'm VERY much a civilian and hardly a medical expert, but I'm surrounded by citeable, legitimate experts and I'd like to think I pay attention when the specialists speak.

I have gotten to know a number of members of the former and current Administrations' COVID task force, including former NIH head Dr. Francis Collins, Andy Slavitt, Dr Rick Bright and Dr. Fauci. To a man, each is surprised to hear my close family members are DEFIANTLY unvaccinated for Covid. Dr. Collins offered to call my mom directly last summer to calm any religious or scientific fears she may have about the vaccines, but I fear that EWTN Catholic channel she and my aunt watch 24/7 on cable has completely brainwashed them both.

u/Orx-of-Twinleaf Aug 10 '22

My grandparents went the same way. They’ll put their clannish bigotry before all else. I used to look up to them until I got old enough to understand what they were saying to me. That I ever had a modicum of respect for those ghouls will haunt me (uh, no pun intended) to the end of my days.

No one made them drink that Kool-Aid. No one even reinforced their doing so, they don’t have a lot of people they talk to. And then they have the gall to wonder why no one can stand them.

I wonder if that was the same grandson who was eventually kept from him because he wouldn’t get vaccinated. Sounds like that child’s parents were tired of grandpa’s nonsense and were doing whatever they could to convince him to protect himself.

u/Special_Ed2018 Aug 10 '22

Grandson kept wearing the mask, though, even when grandpa was trying to help him see he didn’t have to. Damn kids, they got no respect for elders.

47

u/Ragingredblue 🐎Praise the Lord and pass the Ivermectin!🐆 Aug 10 '22

I would love to hear the whole story about that little trip to the grocery store, from the perspective of his grandson and the grandson's parents.

I don't know how old that kid was, but even he knew gramps was batshit, and his instructions needed to be ignored.

34

u/Kutas88 Aug 10 '22

I don't know. Me personally, the first picture made me just angry. It looked in first place like he wanted to conmect with his grandson. But his attempt was not a try to find common ground, but rather pointing on everybody without a mask, trying to convince him to put the mask off too, without directly asking.

It just reminded me of these storys, where parents complain to their own kids that their cousins are sooo much better because bla bla bla.

And the sad part for me was in that pic, that the grandpa did not had any attention towards his grandson, but only for the masks. When my grandpa didn't like something he said it once, and then went on with his life.

46

u/Ragingredblue 🐎Praise the Lord and pass the Ivermectin!🐆 Aug 10 '22 edited Aug 10 '22

He didn't want to connect with the kid. He wanted to use the kid as a pawn in his childish game to not take basic public health precautions.

I am willing to bet he had long been warned about his behavior, but thought it was funny to ignore instructions not to undermine the way his grandson was being parented. He gleefully ignored those instructions and tried to get the grandson to do what he was specifically not allowed to do. Ragey Gramps spent the rest of his shitty life ranting about the consequences of his own actions.

It's amazing how right-wing media has taught their followers to "hate" democrats. These people "despise" folks who don't vote Republican.

You'd think they could point to policies and legislation that have benefited them in some tangible measurable way. You'd think they would be able to articulate a direct link between Republican legislation and benefit to their household. However, I never see it...

It's the same strategy of poisoning the well and creating a common enemy that's always been a backbone of politics, but really kicked into high gear during the Cold War. The major difference is, once the Soviet Union collapsed, they didn't have an obvious "Them" to rally their "Us" around in opposition to, so they just turned the cannons of hatred inward and sicced us on each other.

The interesting thing about it is how ridiculous it is. You point out individual policies they'll say they support them, but the second they hear it's from the political left, they viscerally react against any mention of the words "Democrat" or "liberal." It's downright Pavlovian.

Most of the chucklefucks can’t even define the word conservative. They’ve successfully reduced politics to a playground game. Something like wearing a fucking mask during a pandemic isn’t a fucking “political action,” and the fact they’ve somehow convinced themselves it is is all the more evidence you or any of us should ever need that they’re unqualified to have adult conversations about fucking anything at all. They’re petulant brats the lot of them. That they can go their whole long lives without growing the fuck up sickens and disappoints me.

49

u/instant_chai Aug 10 '22

My understanding is that the government pays for it. However, it’s a huge chunk of time out of your week and you feel like shit when it’s done.

Couple that with a renal diet and a lot will refuse treatment to have some semblance of control. They are aware of the consequences and understand how horrible it is.

Patients non compliant with diet and care aren’t usually put on transplant lists as there aren’t enough organs to go around and surgeons want to know the person will take care of it.

21

u/USMCLee Aug 10 '22

My mom and FIL both had dialysis.

Both said that after it was done you felt tired for the rest of the day. IIRC it was really bad when they first started but eventually got somewhat accustomed to it. Usually folks go 3 days a week.

My wife's grandmother was also on dialysis. She chose the same as this fellow and just stopped going (she was 94).

I lived with an aunt who was on dialysis. She did it for like 20+ years. It's something that takes time, and you have to pay attention, but if you manage it properly, people can lead decades of normal life on dialysis. It's not like you're permanently tied to the machine or something.

If you don't do the dialysis you die, and it's not a nice death, either.
