If one looks at some of her tweets, she is in fact, an expert on virtually everything with a political bent under the sun. She asserts that her training in economics is in a field without political leaning. Given that, how does one interpret the work of Angus Deaton PhD from the wiki: " His research focuses primarily on poverty, inequality, health, wellbeing, and economic development.[2]...Deaton was "delighted" and described himself as "someone who's concerned with the poor of the world and how people behave, and what gives them a good life." upon receiving the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve had asthma and allergies my entire life and some of the best breathing years I’ve had were during Covid. Prior, my allergies were a constant problem and would have 2 or 3 asthma attacks a year. During, not a single issue. I wore my mask everywhere.

37

u/Egmonks Team Mix & Match Sep 11 '22

Not to mention how a normal person wouldn't ask that question, but they would ask them to elaborate their statement.

I thought these morons "hAvE aN iMmUnE sYsTeM"...

... oh no... some mask bacteria is gonna wreck 'em now?

10

u/FrillySteel Sep 11 '22

To be fair, some people's masks are nasty. They've been wearing the same one through the entire pandemic. But even that doesn't help Kate's case, though.

9

u/thoroughbredca Team Mix & Match Sep 11 '22

That’s their own bacteria. Everyone has it. And what bacteria is fine for you might not be for someone else. That’s the entire point of masks to keep those bacteria on your side of the mask and not on mine.

1

u/PainRack Sep 17 '22

Errr. It's not fine to breathe in your own bacteria.

A study shows it takes two days before it's cultured though.

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-022-15409-x

So bad news for during the begining of pandemic when masks were scarce and HCW forced to reuse them . Now??

35

u/Shnazzberry Sep 11 '22

My doctor’s new medical assistant was telling me this at the beginning of the pandemic while she was taking my blood pressure. When she left the room and my doctor came in, I was like, “hey, your medical assistant is saying some weird shit” lol

41

u/CatsPolitics Team Moderna Sep 11 '22

I fired my doctor in 2019 for tolerating his staff being anti-vax. I came in for my annual flu shot and his medical assistant who took my BP, etc actually said “I’d never get a vaccine, you don’t know what’s in them.” Then she began expounding on how her immune system was “stronger than vaccines”.

21

u/Shnazzberry Sep 11 '22

I don’t know if that medical assistant left or if they just stopped assigning her to me, cause I don’t think I’ve seen her since. It was so awkward though lol. I had a mask on but I can just imagine the look on my face when she was saying it.

8

u/thoroughbredca Team Mix & Match Sep 11 '22

We know exactly what’s in them. I would hope to god we would. All the ingredients are listed out. If she chooses not to read that, that’s on her.

Also vaccines don’t do anything on their own. They simply elicit an immune response. It’s like preparing for a big game or sport. You’d practice for it because even if you’re athletic, you would still practice for that particular sport.

2

u/SaltineFiend Sep 11 '22

7

u/thoroughbredca Team Mix & Match Sep 11 '22

“Natural immunity” is a euphemism for “immunity through infection.” You literally have to contract the disease in order to get it, and we don’t have a million people die from the vaccine.

Unfortunately we have an epidemic of people who can’t be told they’re wrong and/or refuse to see any views other than they’re own. They’ll readily discredit any and all experts and refuse to change. This is the real problem because there is no way to convince them they are wrong and their beliefs destroy things. It’s why there are laws about having a driver’s license because we can’t take people on their word that they are a good driver.

6

5

u/ilianation Sep 11 '22

Ah yes, doctors, scientists, and medical professionals who work hours upon hours in masks are definitely well known for having high rates of respiratory disease and brain damage due to an oxygen starved brain. The deep state must have invented medical masks just for this pandemic.

5

u/Silent_Night21 Sep 12 '22

This is bringing back memories I had erased from my brain for my own mental health.

One of my coworkers (we work in the pulic, seeing a few hundred people a day) went to an anti-mask event, without a mask of course, in the middle of the pandemic. She got a fine and tried to argue against it in court, bringing her "research" about how masks are dangerous etc. All the arguments we heard a million times. She was promptly dismissed and had to pay her fine. She then spent most of her time at work complaining about it.

After the mask requirement had been lifted, she was super rude to clients who chose to still wear a mask, despite one of her arguments being "freedom of choice, my body my choice" etc. Fucking glad I don't work the same shifts as her anymore.

3

u/PurBldPrincess Team Unicorn Blood 🦄 Sep 12 '22

We have some anti-mask people who go on marches a few times a week still and harass people with masks even though one of their talking points during the whole thing was that they should be allowed to choose. Bunch of assholes.

USA over a million dead from covid. Japan 1200. The difference, masks social distancing and shots. Stupid people gotta be stupid.

10

u/SpacePoddity Team Pfizer Sep 11 '22

Our World in Data reports a total of 42,554 deaths in Japan. Still. My daughter lived there until about a month ago. Once COVID hit, they all basically grabbed masks they already had because their culture is one of consideration and they wear masks when they're sick anyhow. They had a hugely delayed vaccine rollout and still had 4.5% of the deaths the US had.

7

u/32lib Sep 11 '22

My data must have been old,I stand corrected. If the USA had done as well as Japan we would have avoided approximately 800,000 deaths 😢. There is still no accounting for stupid.

5

u/Massive-Pudding7803 Sep 11 '22

Yeah, 1000 deaths was fairly early on. That said Japan's per capita is absurdly low relative even to other countries that aren't the US.

3

u/Haskap_2010 ✨ A twinkle in a Chinese bat's eye ✨ Sep 12 '22

Honestly you don't need a degree in medicine to know that a mask doesn't make you gasp and wheeze. You just need to literally put one on and note that your breath smells bad and your face feels hot. Other than that, no actual symptoms unless you already have some kind of respiratory complications or maybe claustrophobia... neither of which is specifically caused by the mask

I was thinking of idiots like this a couple of weeks ago. I have asthma and epilepsy and got covid. The doctor I spoke to said she’d love me to be seen. Sigh. So off to the ER I go. Since I’m not a dick, I wore two KN95s.

So I’m there, with covid and asthma, and attached to a pulse ox.

To my surprise I was between 97-99 the whole time. I’m usually not that high day to day.

So, shut up, Kate. Two masks, asthma, covid, and I was just fine on room air. I’m one example, but I’m one of MANY who can prove this walking waste of oxygen wrong.

4

u/Veristelle Sep 11 '22

Everyone knows it does, but by such a small amount it literally doesn't matter at all. There's a reason surgeons don't pass out suddenly when doing 24 hour surgeries, wearing masks every single time.

Pretty clear who the morons are the moment it's pointed out how obvious wearing a mask won't negatively impact you, with clear examples.
