I hate it when the Blue Lives Matter assholes go on about people like Floyd "got what was coming to them" because they were "thugs," but never think to question why it's somehow okay for law enforcement officers to act as judge, jury, and executioner--no arraignment, no right to an attorney, no trial. The kind of thing that's supposed to happen in dictatorships like Saudi Arabia, Iran, or North Korea, but not in "the greatest country in the world."
Seriously, they don't see anything wrong with a Gestapo-like force that kills people on sight, but hey, it's A-OK if it happens to a "thug"? And I think it's a safe guess as to what "thug" actually means to these right-wing cretin.
EDIT: Changed "that happens" to "that's supposed to happen" in case I wasn't bitterly ironic enough the first go-round.

u/McEndee Nov 15 '22
Judging by the posts, I'm assuming she wants justice for Ashlii Babbitt. Also, what crime was George Floyd committing at the time? Using a fake bill isn't a crime, making and distributing bills is a crime. Unless they found an ink press in his house, he probably and unknowingly accepted a counterfeit bill. I worked retail and we'd see fake money all the time, and it was never a situation that needed police presence.
57
u/alexasux Nov 15 '22
Yea, there was no excuse to put your knee on a man’s neck for 8 mins let alone having a group of officers being cool with that, watching a man suffocate… freakin hell people are cruel.
27
u/Libflake Nov 15 '22
The "George Floyd was just a thug" folks are missing the point, or pretending to. Floyd wasn't noteworthy for his life but for the circumstances of his death: publicly executed by people who had taken an oath to protect him.
19
46
u/ColetteThePanda Nov 15 '22
Seriously. When I worked in a parking garage, counterfeits showed up from time to time.
Me: "Hey, um... this is a fake."
Car Guy: "Really? Can I see that again? Oh shit... jeez I just got this outta the ATM. So uhhhh.... what do I do now?"
Me: "Take it back to the bank, I'd say."
End of interaction.

He wasn’t committing a crime. But I think he might have had a drug problem at some point? Which makes you a thug if you’re black in their minds. But if you’re white (especially if you’re a wealthy white Republican) then you can check into rehab and make a statement about how you were ill but through the grace of God you’ve recovered. The hypocrisy is nauseating.
Edit: Snopes did a pretty good article on the claims by the right that Floyd was a criminal. Snopes

The kind of thing that's supposed to happen in dictatorships like Saudi Arabia, Iran, or North Korea, but not in "the greatest country in the world."
In their eyes, the fact that it happens to people of color is what makes it the greatest country in the world. It's not merely okay; the torture and murder of the people they don't like is the right and just thing to do.
That's how far gone people like that are.

The one about Trump not aging hits. Many others aged because of the stress of the job. They stressed because they took on the weight of the position, they cared and worked hard and sweated and thought and tried hard. Trump just doesn’t give a shit. He mucked about like a pig in slop and golfed more than anyone before him. Mocked and fired anyone with competence or who dared challenge him or tell him no. Pardoned his fellow cronies and con men. Gave away state secrets to other governments and enriched the already wealthy. The fact that he didn’t she really shows. He didn’t care, he doesn’t care, he never will. Fuck him.

We don't take the vaccine to prevent getting covid. We get the vaccine to reduce the spreading, so we can go back to normal life. AND to survive it if we catch it.
And yeah, George Floyd was a criminal that never really did any good. We all agree on that.
The part we disagree with is that a cop can be judge jury and executioner, AND passed a death sentence by torture with no appeal.
For all the crimes Floyd committed, he never murdered anyone. Chauvin did murder someone, he is also a criminal.
If having a 20$ bill was enough for Chauvin to execute Floyd by slowly choking him, what should be Chauvin's sentence for killing someone by choking him? Being flayed alive?

I wonder if we can get a dataset on grammatical mistakes… I’ve noticed that a lot of them have some specific problems - a lot of them ask questions but don’t use a question mark, which is weird to me. Are they supposed to be statements? The ‘can I get an amen.’ phrase shows up a lot when they probably should be saying ‘gimme an amen!’ or something. Also (and I know these are pretty common in general but seem extra common among these folks) but they really seem to have trouble with ‘there’, ‘their’, and ‘they’re’, and also ‘to’, ‘two’, and ‘too’. Did these people fail language arts/English class at every level?

If you look at how close some of these elections were,. I am almost certain that at least a few of them were decided due to the death of anti-vaxxers. Obviously the Dobbs decision, gen z being activated, the insurrection, election denying candidates, each had a key role to play in the results.
What I'm arguing is that some of these elections were so close that you needed all of those issues to push the Democrat over the edge, and taking even one of those issues away (like mega antivax or deaths) would have given the Republican candidate to win.
Maybe sometime later I'll see if I can find the numbers of people per state and per congressional district that died of covid after the vaccine was readily available and compare that with the spread between the winning and losing votes.

As a republican, I have no idea why people are still supporting trump, I also don't know why people are so hesitant of vaccines dispite trump saying hes had all of his vaccines and boosters, as a centrist republican I tend to stay away from trump supporters, a lot of trump supporters claim the vaccine is bad which is a lie, a lot of their claims seem to be copy and paste they go along the lines of " I knew this athletic that died after vax etc", another I've heard a lot is the "this is population control bla bla bla" not all republicans are anti vaxxers conspiracy theorists, it's just the extremists that make the centrists look insane.
Anyways if the vaccine was so bad people would be dropping dead and hospitals would be packed to the brim with so called "injuries from the vaccine" even if 1 percent of the US population had problems from the vaccine that would be 4,000,000 people which is a very large number, this world absolutely clog the hospital systems, and worldwide 6 billion single doses have been administered, if we take that into account that would be 60 million people experiencing symptoms, if this were the case it would be all over the news, hospitals and doctors offices would be full, we also have to account that the vaers system reports deaths unrelated the COVID vaccine after vaccination, and only 7000 were reported in vaers (but are not related to the vaccine) they are required to report deaths even if unrelated to the vaccine.
My last argument comes to the people who believe that the vaccines are killing people, if that were the case, people would dropping dead in the streets yet they aren't, there were 267 million people vaccinated in the US, just think of that, if the things that these people said were true, it would have been seen in mass numbers but yet it hasn't, I honestly believe this is because it's more of a political statement and or defiance, it is often known that people will not take advice if directly told to get something, it often makes them hesitant to do something, I believe the approach to these people is to not force them or tell them that they need to get the vaccine, but to rather talk with them about the benefits of the vaccine and how vaccines work.

Pretty sure he is lying about nurses telling him COVID cares are all vaxed. But it doesn’t look like he was a stranger to lying.

Wow, I didn’t realize Jesus was so manipulative. Sounds like my mom. And I really doubt the nurses said what he’s claiming they did. Unless they’re really stupid or just telling him what he wants to hear so he doesn’t flip out on them or whatever, both of which are possible. And hey, dude, maybe some people were in the hospital who had had the shots, but guess what! You’re there and you didn’t. You’re not as brilliant as you think.

"Too bad. Too sad, he won't be coming back." Sorry, I just can't misspell too like he did.

Regarding Trump not visibly aging, what is this supposed to prove? That if he showed signs of age, he'd be an ordinary mortal like the rest of us, but because he didn't, he's their new god?

Anti vax, racist, insurrectionist.
Pretty sure this guy had a bullseye on his back for Covid.
Also pretty sure the golf club is glad not to have him or his ilk ever come back
