But someone on Facebook told him he had "natural immunity?" How could this have happened? A mystery for the ages.

147

u/bigotis Team Moderna Nov 29 '22

I know right!!??!

I saw a video from a chiropractor in Sheboygan who said the same thing. Natural immunity, a few adjustments to my spine and a bath using essential oils from his wifes side business and I'll be protected.

No Fauci ouchie for me!

24

u/TheOtherDutchGuy Nov 30 '22

Which by the way is a terrible name, because in other countries Fouchy has nothing to do with the vaccine plus the shot itself is actually painless, at least it was over here because the needles were extremely small.

25

u/Iintendtooffend Spare the Cain, spoil the manchild Nov 30 '22

All my covid shots have hurt quite a bit honestly, not the initial injection so much, but the next couple of days was pretty sore at the injection site

46

u/Tiddles_Ultradoom You Will Respect My Immunitah! Nov 30 '22

So far, my COVID pain tally is as follows:

  1. Getting it early in 2020 pre-vaccines. Coughing up blood with such force bits of me popped out, plus COVID's extended side-hustle remix of a pulmonary embolism and a lifetime of blood-thinnners
  2. A vaccine and three boosters (so far). A few sore arms and a vaguely dazed, headachy feeling for a day
  3. Getting COVID in 2022 post-vaccines. A few days of feeling like I had a hangover without getting as gassed as a badger-level drunk beforehand

On the whole, #1 outweighs each #2 encounter and #3 by a fairly substantial margin. The PE in particular - that feeling of being unable to walk more than five paces without having to stop and gasping for breath, that sense of drowning without the alleged euphoria of drowning, the having to read the instructions for sock-wearing because you are so confused and the sheer pain of trying to force your diaphragm to move just to stay alive - wins every time.

I'll take a sore arm and a fuzzy head over wondering where all the air went any day.

u/st3ph3n Team Moderna Nov 30 '22

I'm so fucking glad I never caught it before getting vaccinated. The case I caught in April 2022 was mild enough that it was much like a common cold. I only know it was COVID because I tested for it.

I just…don’t fucking get it. Haven’t these people heard of the Black Death? Spanish flu? The human immune system isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. That’s why we needed to invent vaccines and antibiotics.

43

u/Sitcom_kid Nov 30 '22

Human beings in general do not have some type of natural herd immunity to measles or smallpox, it comes from vaccines. It's not about politics and paranoia, but they'll never get that.

34

u/Tiddles_Ultradoom You Will Respect My Immunitah! Nov 30 '22

Anti-vaxx idiots are fed a massive lie each time.

For example, there were two main strains of smallpox; the more virulent one killed about 70-80% of those it infected. The strain 'only' killed about 30-40%. They are told that the more virulent strain was fading away naturally and being 'replaced' by the milder strain... and that was about as bad as chickenpox.

The idiots fail to see that the more virulent strain was only reducing in number – not severity – because it was so virulent it caused people to change their activities and go for vaccination (even back in Jenner's day).

Plus, it's easy for someone in their 20s to downplay smallpox because it hasn't existed in the wild since the late 1970s; a generation and a half before they were born. It would be like me dismissing scurvy as 'bad dental hygiene' because no-one in my experience has ever had scurvy.

That all being said, I have precisely the square root of fuck all sympathy for their credulous natures. They are purveyors of death and disease regardless of their own personal fuckwittery.

5

u/ZealousidealCurve842 My Dogs are Lap Dancers Nov 30 '22

There is no herd immunity. The common cold is the biggest proof. All these years and everyone still catches a cold. You'd think by now with everyone who's had at least one cold in their life, it wouldn't exist any more because of herd immunity. So much for that theory.

The human immune system is remarkably adaptable—-to infections and viruses that the person or the person’s parents have encountered before. If you look back, for at least the last 2-300 years there has been a major disease/virus outbreak that killed hundreds of thousands if not millions of people worldwide. Smallpox starting in the 1770’s - until the first modern vaccine was developed in the 1830’s- the 1918 Pandemic (Spanish Flu) in 1918 and almost exactly 100 years later Covid in 2019. In between there were outbreaks of flu and infectious diseases that were severe but the death toll was in the thousands to tens of thousands instead of millions. Swine flu, Aids, chickenpox and measles. Some of the last group weren’t as fatal because vaccines were developed relatively quickly. And for most of the 20th Century there had been frequent enough outbreaks of deadly enough diseases that vaccination was seen as the best option by everyone.

If gawd wanted to stop the Holocaust but couldn't, then gawd is impotent. Either way, not worthy of 10% of my pre-tax and having to wake up early on Sunday morning.

6

u/maxreddit Nov 30 '22

I always thought that the kinder reading of God was that he wasn't omnipotent. Like he made the universe, but he doesn't have much control of it. That particular reading at least allows for that "loving God" stuff but still allows for bad things to happen. He could really care about existence in that scenario, but he just doesn't have the power or understanding to make changes that would guarantee not to have horrible consequences. It at least makes God more understandable, anyway. The idea of starting a project that goes beyond your control is a relatable idea, and I think it makes God look better than "a being so monstrous that it would allow things like the holocaust to happen when he could stop it because of 'mysterious ways' or truly awe-inspiring pettiness over an apple getting eaten.'" Perhaps, that's covered by God being a thing beyond our comprehension, but that logic doesn't make me feel more positive toward the guy!

12

u/NecroAssssin Nov 30 '22

The book of Revelations tells us that only 144k souls will be saved. Churches have done a lot of damage control to convince their tithes that that particular point isn't literal. But given the amount of selfish 'Christians' we see I can understand why that might be the only literal thing in the entire book.

5

u/LALA-STL Nov 30 '22

I asked a Jehovah's Witness Watch Tower lady who came to my door about the 144k people allowed into heaven. She assured me that even tho space in heaven was limited, life down here on Earth would be dramatically improved for believers after the rapture. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Why wouldn't physicians just give him antibiotics? Clearly that is the real thing being hidden in Area 51.

Given that we're three years into the pandemic, how highly transmissible Omicron is, and that these dimwits do nothing to avoid infection, it's highly unlikely this wasn't his first dance with COVID-19.

Even a "mild" case of COVID-19 can damage the immune system. If he has COVID before, then his body might have been waving an open invitation at any opportunistic infection -- viral, bacterial, or fungal.

20

u/vctrmldrw Yeah, that's not how research works Nov 30 '22

I'm sure they gave him antibiotics once he got admitted, but maybe it was too late then. Also keep in mind the side effects of antibiotics can be pretty harsh, compared to that the vaccine side effects are rarer and the common ones pretty mild. Add to that covid, all those other medications, probably being vented etc. and an additional bacterial infection is the last thing you would want.

I hate it when these chucklefucks use Rod Serling's image. He was progressive and not just for the 1950s. He would still be progressive today, which might be the saddest sentence I've typed in a while. He fought tooth and nail to prevent his work from being sanitized; that's kind of the whole reason he produced the Twilight Zone.

You would have though that the right wing would have tripled efforts to stop/prevent this rampant misinformation spread at the time.

But it was politically convenient for them to both sit back and reap the political rewards and in some cases, promote and amplify it to gain favor from their base.

Now we have a completely impotent, failed "red wave" in the midterms and we have the macabre moment of realization that COVID death ratios among right wing voters actively cost some of these disinformation dipshits their elections by margins eerily related to COVID deaths in those races' districts.

Number 13 was half correct. We do hate those traitorous, malicious, science-denying, hateful, bigot bio-terrorists, but we also hate the orange shitbag because he's the biggest one that enabled the rest of them.

Also, I was surprised for a second by how he brought up the deaths of Native Americans. Still, I quickly realized that he was just reaching for an incident that isn't actually relevant to America's mass shooting problems in an attempt to trivialize them. It's obvious that he gives absolutely no shit about the genocide of the natives.

I know golf isn’t a concern for most here and it has nothing really to do with Covid but bear with my rant here. The LIV tour is a Saudi money washing invention that pays way too much for dumb team tournaments. They’re aligned with Drumpf to play on his courses because he’s been shunned by the PGA tour. The players that left for Saudi money are the biggest dicks and most self-entitled of the most famous players as well. These players have tried to going to court to allow them to play both tours and be ranked so they can play in the major tournaments (which is what most fans care about). So they took the money gave the finger and now want their cake too.
I’m a fan of golf and those that remain with PGA are to be commended because it’s a political schism in addition to money as the departed clearly have no problem with Drumpf and all that he has done (let alone the Saudi regime and their crimes).

Pretty typical far right nonsense - get utterly outraged at a completely hypothetical situation that they just made up in their heads. The situation isn't real, but their manufactured outrage is. Like that whole litter box in school thing.

It's a lot like that migrant caravan of tens of thousands, which only arrives during election season to scaremonger their voters into demonising their opponents, and then mysteriously disappears until the next big vote.

They care more about imaginary problems like this than they do real ones, like constant school shootings or the proliferation of far right terrorist acts.

3

u/cofclabman Nov 30 '22
