I love contractions, but maybe too much. I very often use the double apostrophe and I'm well aware it looks awkward: wouldn't've, couldn't've, they'd've, etc.. I'm more than willing to remove one and just go with a shouldnt've, but I don't know if the rest of the world is ready.
