Meta A guide to this sub's explanatory comment rule.
Recently, we noticed an increased amount of nonsensical explanatory comments with no relation in any way, shape or form to the theme of this subreddit.
The "leopards ate my face" theme is embodied by this quote in the sidebar.
"I never thought leopards would eat *my** face", sobs woman who voted for the *Leopards Eating People's Faces Party. Revel in the schadenfreude anytime someone has a sad because they're suffering consequences from something they voted for, supported or wanted to impose on other people.
This statement made out of 3 parts.
- Someone voted for, supported or wanted to impose something on other people
Who's that someone and what's that something? - That something has some consequences.
What are the consequences? - As a consequence, that something happened to that someone.
What happened? Did the something really happened to that someone? If not, you should probably delete your post.
In your explanatory comment, identify these 3 elements and include the minimum amount of information necessary so your post can be understood by everyone, even if they don't live in the US or speak English as their native language. If you fail to identify them, it might be difficult for a moderator to understand if this post fits the subreddit or not and the post might be wrongly removed. If you complain about it in modmail, we'll just send you back here.
The explanatory comment is not the place to write a pretty poem nor is it the place to promote books. Copying this post, copying large parts of the article and nonsensical comments will get your post removed under rule #3. Keep it stupid simple.
To help you get started, here's an example.
- Roberto Beristain voted for Donald Trump, who vowed to impose deportation to illegal immigrants
- Voting for Trump, who vowed to deport illegal immigrants, has the consequence of having illegal immigrants deported
- As a consequence of voting for Trump, Beristain got deported.
A bit stiff, right? You can also take some writing liberties around the format as long as moderators can effortlessly match it with the format.
- Roberto Beristain, an illegal immigrant, voted for Donald Trump
- Trump has vowed to deport illegal immigrants
- As a consequence of voting for Trump, Beristain got deported.
This is much more fluid, but you should absolutely make sure that it's easy to match with the format or your post will be mercilessly removed. If, however, you can't match your explanatory comment with the format, then you should just delete your post and save us the effort.

Removed: Rule 4 Just because someone fucked around and found out doesn't mean a leopard ate their face: A Primer
Recently, we’ve seen a marked uptick in posts that are not leopards eating faces. Just because someone is experiencing consequences doesn’t mean that the Panthera pardus is dining on a face.
We’re aiming for quality over quantity here, and in order for something to be suitable for this subreddit all the boxes have to be ticked:
- Someone is suffering consequences
- Someone has a sad over the consequences
- The consequences are something they voted for/supported and the consequences are something they wanted to impose on someone else
- The leopards are doing the dining
What isn't Leopards Eating Faces? Some examples include (but not limited to):
Twitter post claiming Tesla is recalling every single car from fake Elon Musk account starts chaos …This is consequences, but you’ll notice the other 3 criteria aren’t being met. Musk isn’t sad, this isn’t something he voted for or supported, this isn’t something he wanted to impose on anyone else, and the leopards aren’t eating his face.
Trump-Pardoned Criminals in Trouble for More Crimes ...They are suffering consequences and while there’s no evidence of it, they’re probably dealing with a case of the sads. But this isn’t something they for or supported, this isn’t something they wanted to impose on anyone else, and the leopards aren’t eating their faces.
Tennessee lawmakers have some regrets about rushing a new law holding back 3rd graders who struggle to read ...They’re not really suffering consequences, and while they do have a case of the sads, and this is something they voted for, this isn’t something they wanted to happen to someone else, and the leopards aren’t eating the faces.
Russian oligarch who criticised Ukraine war has $1bn hotel complex seized ….He’s sad, and he’s got consequences. But he didn’t support the war, and members of his own party (aka the Leopards) aren’t eating his face.
So what are some good examples? I never thought they’d deport my undocumented immigrant husband! says women who voted for the man who said he’d do that very thing. I’m living paycheck-to-paycheck!.... Cries the man who voted for the “bootstrap it, asshole” party. Why are you refusing me service, this is unacceptable! ….says the woman who voted to ensure that businesses could refuse service to whomever they want, and who’s pissed that it’s not just the LGBTQIA+ community that’s getting the short end of the stick.
We’d ask that you report wherever you see something that doesn’t tick all the boxes to report it. We may not get to it immediately, since we have lives and shit, but we will action it. If we remove your post, don’t take it personally- it’s just not a good fit. (Good news is you get to keep all the karma you earned, so there’s that!) If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot us a modmail, and we’ll get back to you.
Cheers and Happy Holidays!

Underfunded public schools unable to find staff. Government shocked!
In the past 12 months, jobs advertised in inner-city private schools have offered base salaries up to $160,000, and rural principals have reported high offers in the regions too. Those salaries are tens of thousands of dollars higher than what the public system can offer most teachers.
With Australia facing an "unprecedented" teacher shortage, public school principals have told the ABC they still cannot compete on pay and conditions. "Actually finding qualified teachers is not possible at the moment"

Paywall Politicized church tearing itself apart through disinformation, Islamophobia, accusations of “wokeness” (from Oct. 2021).
Far-right evangelical leaders are being targeted by MAGA-style attacks from within their own church. Accusations include that certain candidates running for church elder will “sell the church to Muslims who will replace it with a mosque” and that others “cater to woke leftist ideology.” Older article; sorry.

"Frugal" implies the buyer assesses the item's evaluability that doesn't cross the line of financial consideration; a line the frugal can't or won't cross. Basically, FMF assumes the buyer is being frugal. A frugal person wouldn't guess on cost. That's anti-frugal.
