Baby animals rarely fail to make even the hardest looking people go all cutesey.
I'm a 30-something female... It never fails.

I'm a 30-something male and when I see baby animals my voice goes into a higher pitched aww.

I showed my 37 year old boyfriend a picture of baby guinea pigs and watched him melt. It was adorable. I love men who love animals lol

u/Shy_guy_purple Aug 06 '21
36M and I'll always drop to the floor for a baby animal. Seriously, I'd kick a human baby out of the way to get to that puppa belly!

You're right! My dad was proof too. He was a 6ft tall martial artist who had a really hard life. Yards of scars. Hand him a baby anything and he was an instant puddle of happy lovey smiley joy.

u/Silver-Star92 Aug 06 '21
My stepfather always pretends to dislike animals. But when my cat comes by he looks at him and puts his hand out to pet him. He even talks to him when he thinks nobody is watching. He did the same with my moms budgie. It's really funny

Yeah. You could hand the strongest man on earth a tiny kitten and that man would look almost harmless

u/Lilly_1337 Aug 06 '21
Could you please tell him that I don't know him but his picture made my day?
He looks like such a proud dad.

u/FluffyDiscipline Aug 06 '21
Aww the budgies are so cute... but his smile is even cuter

Parakeets
14
u/Grobylicious Aug 06 '21
They're budgies, though sometimes referred to as parakeets, like other small parrots are
4
u/Manwe-Erusson Aug 06 '21
In their home country of Australia they are called by their traditional name of budgerigar or shortened to budgie. Parakeets are about 115 different species, qnd a budgie is just one.

I've raised many baby budgies before we swapped to cockatiels. Best feeling ever, so CUTE! This post made my day!!!

u/mikechappell1 Aug 06 '21
Are you sure they aren't just budgies
22
u/idawoman Aug 06 '21
Definitely babies. They have full stripes on their head. They disappear as they get older.
12
u/Lilly_1337 Aug 06 '21
The word "budgie" cracks me up every time. Who even came up with that XD
In German we call them Wellensittich. literal translation: wave parakeet (because of their wavy stripes)
11
u/Manwe-Erusson Aug 06 '21
They are called budgerigars, which comes from an Aboriginal (native) Australian name for them. A very common pet in Australia, where they are native.
5
u/Lilly_1337 Aug 06 '21
But why shorten it to "budgie"?
It sounds so derpy (but to be fair the birds are kind of derpy themselves).6
u/Unidentifiedten Aug 06 '21
Because.
In Australia we shorten many things e.g
*Maccas = McDonald's *G'day = Good day *ScoMo = Scott Morrison (aka our dickhead PM) *Servo = Service station
2
u/Izzy123bella Aug 06 '21
Reddit mobile got me again.. if you click the photo, it seems they are baby parakeets! ☺️
2
u/Round30281 Aug 06 '21
The thing about the stripes is correct. Also, another good indicator is the black marks on the beak, the completely black and young looking eyes, and the fact that they are not upright and are relying on the man’s palm to hold their head (their neck muscles are still a little too weak).
4
u/I-Killed-JR Aug 06 '21
Are parakeets and budgies the same thing?
5
u/threecolorable Aug 06 '21
Budgies/budgerigars are a specific species—all budgies are parakeets, but not all parakeets are budgies.
In America, many people just refer to them as parakeets, but people who are more into parrots will usually call them budgies to prevent confusion with ring-necked parakeets, monk parakeets, etc.

There's a little enclosure in the local zoo with about 300 budgies inside it, and they give you little sticks with seeds stuck on them to feed them with.
They can be a bit nippy, but never bite hard and just nibble lightly, and you can have around ten of them crawling on you at once.
They like to eat the lettuce you can get for feeding the giraffes more than the seed sticks.

I had a 2 budgies and they had two babies. We also have another 2 my cousin gave and a finch we saved when we was a baby. We found him by a tree and he couldn't even fly. The trees are MASSIVE so I'm surprised he's alive. But sadly the original mom died unexpectedly and a chick that was 3 months old. Very sad ;(

Dude's forearms look like he could hand bend rebar, yet he's so gently handling the baby birds. Peoples capacity for empathy and compassion is amazing.

Now he gets to watch them grow and become a bunch of obnoxiously loud misfits... And that's why I love budgies!

PSA... these guys are WAYYYY quieter in the store. That huge glass cage theyre in dampens all the sound. These guys will make crackling and screechy noises nonstop for an eternity.
Just saying how they seem in the store is not how they actually are

I've helped my cockatiels raise 6 chicks over the years, and it was an amazing experience! And yes, I still have mom & dad and all babies.

Damn bro, we all find your edgy joke about fucking birds that you felt the need to comment on this wholesome subreddit funny.
-2
u/SickMotherLover Aug 06 '21
Well it's the first time he's had babies, he walked right into it...
Besides making r/CursedComments on a Sub that isn't wholesome kinda defeats the purpose

Oh yes deffinetly a domestic animal that doesn't even know how to find food can live in the wilderness

From the wilderness but if you send a domestic bird to the wild it will die in a day or two. And btw don't get birds from pet stores but do get from breeders.
