Four years ago, I survived a suicide attempt and dropped out of college. On Friday, I graduated with both my associate's and my bachelor's. In two weeks, I start grad school! :) Personal Win

Check out my new album "The Yeti Seeks Metal," releasing on Halloween 2021. It's deathquadcore screampop chillpunk funktrap, but, you know, good. Three Inches of Blood wrote a ballad about Gandalf for it, and BabyMetal is going to play different variations of Gollum. Also, check out our B-side hit, "Variations of Gollum," featured on the upcoming Trolls 3 soundtrack.

Super. What turned life around for you?

u/Naive-Association-68 Aug 11 '21
Honestly, I had multiple mental health crises until I got to a point to where I knew it was time to move forward. Got on meds, been through lots of therapy, and learned to talk to my close friends and family when I need them. Strong support systems help out sooo much

u/AgentRevolutionary99 Aug 11 '21
Are you going in to a field you think will help you stay mentally well?
226
u/Naive-Association-68 Aug 11 '21
I’d like to think so! I’m studying English and plan to teach, and hopefully get on my SBOE. I want to advocate to get mental health services on school campuses eventually, because I know I needed help wayyy before I got it, but that will take a few years in the classroom first.

Mental health is physical health! That is something that should be taught to kids growing up throughout school. Your future students will be lucky to have you!

Been there, I know what’s it’s like to feel like it’s just you vs the world. It’s not, it never was…when things get tough and you feel like you can’t go a single day more..fight for that next minute, and the minute after that. You’ll make it!!

This is so inspiring! As a suicide attempt survivor (X3) its awesome to see others overcome their “demons” and grow. I have been an advocate to young teens and have told my story and heard many more.

There are always possibilities in life. Of good things, great achievements, new challenges, roads yet to travel. Whenever life is tough, and dark clouds begin to swirl, remember it’s not always easy to see through those dark moments at the possibilities that lay ahead, but trust they are there and keep going. Your rewards are just ahead!! And you have a radiant smile too!

Just want to add-on to OPs comment.
At 29 years old I took up a tertiary education.
I am turning 32 this October and I am on schedule to complete my first Bachelor's degree this semester.
I never thought I would actually complete something like this. Soon I will actually have a qualification! It's hard to believe.
You can do it!

Congrats! That’s some HUGE progress you did and I hope you don’t stop! Remember - we only have one life. It may be extremely hard and brutal, but once you handle it, once you understand yourself and decide what you want to achieve - your life turns around and gets better. And a shout-out tot everybody. Words that I have herd hundreds of times from a cool man. “Be nice to each other, because this is all we’ve got”.
