Because he used her success to fill his bank account. And her 2007 breakdown was not a thing that should have landed her under 13 years of conservatorship. Her father is a stealing, lying, manipulative asshole.

No worries. Being an old fuck, I remember her breakdown and the media frenzy surrounding it quite vividly. She's been raked over the coals for 20 years and deserved none of it. Not even a fan of hers, but I recognize abuse when I see it.

Everyone breaks down every once in a while and she shouldn’t have lost her life over it

If she was a man this would’ve never have happened. Ie Charlie sheen.

I can see how he could be a major reason for her breakdown.

I know there has to be child stars out here with good parents but I do feel sorry for them.

Her father was riding her hard earned gravy train and in order to hang onto it, he had to make it seem as if she is mentally ill.

I hate people like him. Greedy bastard!

Britney's essentially been controlled by her father her whole life. The definition of a conservator according to Merriam-Webster is "a person, official, or institution designated to take over and protect the interests of an incompetent". Since 2008, she couldn't make her own choices, she couldn't access her own money, and she had to do what her father said regarding her career. Doesn't sound too great does it? Hopefully, this news means that Britney can actually live her own life now.
