How is that a thing?!

It's a joke within the anime community that handholding is extremely lewd because romance often moves at a glacial pace. Most anime stop at a first kiss or just a confession. So if the characters are holding hands their relationship has progressed past where most anime get to.

I use Text-To-Speech like a good Vorin man.

You don’t need text to speech if you’re a heretic.

Or if you're a ~~woman~~

These are progressive times! Bright lady Navani and Queen Jasnah wear gloves on their safe hand. I'm sure before too long, the holding of safe hands between seriously courting couples will be seen as perfectly normal behavior.

In public!? The scandal!

EDIT: Look I'm all for couples doing whatever intimate act they want in private, but all I'm saying is I don't want to see that. Keep it in the bedchambers. Think of the children!!1!

If the vorin church were open to changing with the times, it wouldn't even be an issue! Hasn't the past but of time shown us that perhaps what Dalinar says about honor true? I think it may be time we examine exactly why the safe hand is so off limits! #freethesafehand

It's not just about religion- it's the natural way of the world! Honor isn't the only reason we adhere to the rules of Arts and Majesty. Women have a safe-hand because our arts require only one hand- it's just the way of things! You don't see women heaving on saws and chopping down trees! First we remove the sanctity of the safe-hand, then before you know it we'll lose the Arts as well. Smh my head.

People are defying the arts at all levels now! Bright Lord Dalinar can read and write. Bright ladies Shalan, Navani, and queen Jasnah are Knights Radiant. Do you know what they can't do with one hand? Swing a blade!

Edit:added spoiler censor

u/cassifrass0221 26d ago

Well of course- they're knights radiant! They're basically Ardents and therefore separate from gender. Just because it's what those holy lighteyes do doesn't mean it's what we should do.

2

u/NextLevelNaps 26d ago

I would argue that it is what we should do specifically because they are holy! Should we all not aspire to emulate those who are highest? Is not the practice that is good enough for the Knights Radiant acceptable for the rest of us? I may not be of the same nahn as these Bright Lords and Ladies, but if the dark eyes find that they must have both hands available to work and the Knights Radiant need both hands to perform their holy duties, then I need both of my hands available to me as well. It's just flaunting wealth to have a Lady only use half of the tools the almighty gave to her!
