Thank you so much! I absolutely am!I start trauma therapy soon which will sort the roots of it out!

Excellent! For what it's worth, I am SO proud of you going to Uni. While not bad parents, mine never said 'I love you' to us. Among many other reasons that cost me my marriage. I was not capable of truly loving my then wife. It's been a few years now came to terms with a lot of issues and I am feeling happier now. But the one mistake I will not make, is not tell my 8yo daughter every time I see her, how much I love her, and proud of her I am that she is doing so well.
PS, my mother passed on this April, some 10years after my father.

That's brilliant, your little one will always remember how much you love her and you saying it to her always. And thank you so much, I'm honoured you're proud! I doubt if my dad knew I'd get anything more than a "oh right".

Yvw. Reading in another post of you why you went for criminology, I can honestly say, your father is a scumbag. Not in a million years is that exceptable. Equally proud I am of my two nieces, from my brother. One is 2nd year Medical Technology, and the other is most likely to read Law next academic year.
How can a parent not be ffing proud of something like that? ( Brother and SIL are too chuffed to bits.)

Great job! The first year is definitely the hardest and a huge accomplishment. But you have to keep fighting for every day. I just hit 4 years a couple weeks ago and it feels amazing. Keep it up! 👍🏼😉

I recognize the look in your eyes, I see it every morning when I look in the mirror. Sobriety (I’m 8 months sober) is tough, and what you’ve done is a amazing accomplishment! You should be very proud of yourself; I’m proud of you! I will raise my ice cold Sprite in celebratory toast!

Thank you! As someone that grew up with an extremely abusive mother that drank and was addicted to so many pills, I am so happy for you, your family, and friends. Her addictions killed her and scarred us.

A picture is worth a thousand words! Scrolling thru numerous posts, I froze looking at your pic and couldn't stop gazing. And I was smiling!
Sense of pride & accomplishment + hey life, I'm ready to live it up...ummm..so let's check out which adventure catches my fancy !
... that's what came to my mind.

I see a hint of a smile and it's reaching your eyes. First year is the hardest. Good work and way to go... color me 39 sober on dec10th :) and you know what? You got this.
