That's what I was thinking, full grown chimps are incredibly dangerous. While the dude can risk his own life if he wants, obviously if something happens the chimp will be killed.
For anyone not in the loop, there was a woman who had a chimp who really mauled the woman's best friend and his caretaker. It's not really the right material for this sub though.
Edit: typo

A woman in Pendelton, Oregon was nearly mauled to death by her pet Chimp earlier this summer. The responding LEO had to shoot it as the woman's mother screamed for him to do so. Wild animals are not pets.

I keep telling my fiancé I don’t like chimps for this reason. Let them stay in the jungles and forests where they belong.

There’s a big difference between “tiger king” and animal sanctuaries/rescue…

Remember Doc Antle from tiger king, the guy who groomed young women for his harem, luring them in with tiger kittens. The one who's been charged with killing tigers, and illegally selling exotic wildlife?
This is his son continuing the family business.

Thank you, that’s that Kody dude. Is his business still going? I would have thought it went out of business after the documentary plus covid.
Does anyone know if kody is just like his father or did he clean up the place? I’d like to believe he was raised around animals and grew up an animal lover and turned the place around. But I doubt it

Not pets. Lots of people see these videos and covet primates. Doesn’t end well

This is Darren Oldenburg and his chimp Victor.
Victor is quite a unique chimp. Found in the wild as a baby. Mother was presumably killed. Raised entirely around humans and given adderall regularly for years. He has a vocabulary of over 3000 words and can read at a middle school level. Writing is … not so good. Victor is thought to be able to operate more or less flawlessly in human society if given the opportunity. They are actually planning on doing a test next year in a retirement community in Florida to see how well he can function.

Please tell me this is satire. We all know how having a chimp--on medication, no less--living in human society worked out for Charla Nash. No, just no.

Chimps aren’t humans and aren’t going to operate well in human societies. They belong in the wild where they can be wild. And WTF is with giving a chimp adderall? Dumb.

Could you imagine how swoll we as humans would be if we swung around in trees and were active all day every day like chimps?

Chimpanzees have a greater mobility in their shoulder compared to humans, which makes this here a lot easyer for them.

There's a part in this video where the chimpanzee looks back at the man. I Dunno if its "HA, LOSER" or "Ya comin, mate?"
