Look up “Le Petit Chef”

60

u/TenesmusSupreme Aug 01 '22

I did the Le Petit Chef in Los Angeles. Fun show! Food was ok.

18

u/labadee Aug 01 '22

They also have one in Toronto

2

u/zombie_ie_ie Aug 02 '22

Really? Yesssss. Now I'm going there tomorrow lol.

I enjoyed this very much!!!

Le Petit Chef, on Celebrity Edge class cruise ships

21

u/bossbang Aug 01 '22

Hey something I actually know! There are several locations, but I've seen this in person here in San Diego.

It was a good time. To get in you solve a very simple escape room to get into the actual dining hall, and all the guests already seated eating get to watch you try to figure it out on a TV by the entrance.

Iirc. they start this holo-table show and bring you matching dishes. There is also a magic show performance along with dinner.

3

u/Skittlebearle Aug 01 '22

It's all over. It's called le petit chef.

164

u/ToonaSandWatch Aug 01 '22

Pricey at $125 but for the show and fun + view outside I’d say it’s an indulgence that would make for a memorable night.

116

u/SC-Fulmer Aug 01 '22

“… a full price for a family of four of nearly $800 after drinks, tax, and tip.”

Yeah, I’d say a little too pricey for a basic projector shining on a table😏

51

u/BoomFrog Aug 01 '22

I mean, lets not be unreasonable. They also commissioned custom cgi for each dish. You can still say $800 is too much, but it's not paying just for a projector.

5

u/ToonaSandWatch Aug 01 '22

Good thing I don’t have kids then and rarely drink alcohol with a meal.

2

Once I know how to get rid of the damn cube in Blender, I can give you those animations for free.

6

u/ToonaSandWatch Aug 01 '22

Never sell your hard work for free.

26

u/Charming_Rub_5275 Aug 01 '22

As a Brit I was really hoping this place wouldn’t be too far away as i would love to take my kids. Unfortunately there’s no way we’ll be attending the ritz Carlton LA lol

5

u/Significant_Cut_5812 Aug 01 '22

There’s something super similar to this right on Piccadilly Circus forgot the name it’s a Asian restaurant not with the same animations but same tech just different animations.

2

u/Charming_Rub_5275 Aug 01 '22

I’m looking on google, is it called inamo?

2

u/Significant_Cut_5812 Aug 01 '22

Yes i think so that does ring a bell.

6

u/SheepherderSafe4028 Aug 01 '22

I know the Hyatt in Mainz has Le Petit Chef. A little closer I guess?

2

u/Charming_Rub_5275 Aug 01 '22

This is cool and very creative for the restaurant! One thing though... why this music? lol

36

u/SnooRadishes2312 Aug 01 '22

.. yeah the music took me out of that video.

Also side note - that chef fucking died at the dessert, fell into the ice and drowned, last meal so i assume he is never coming back. honestly id be kind of scarred as a kid after forming a little emotional bond with the caricature

5

u/Fabulous-Wave6225 Aug 01 '22

More to the point, why not the original which is identical in style but written and performed by the far, far better vocalist Christina Perri.

11

u/Lay_My_Claim Aug 01 '22

The music killed it.

4

u/ifuckinglikepelly Aug 01 '22

My mother organised once one of these events. It was in a new location und we brought all the stuff with us. The biggest challenge was, to find a way to put the projector up and allign them right. Luckily everything went good.

26

u/altofeveryone Aug 01 '22

I want to take my niece to this place

7

u/Dramatic-Service-985 Aug 01 '22

Planktons wife Karen must have upgraded her software😅👍

2

u/hux__ Aug 01 '22

Holographic meatloaf

24

u/Butt-Dragon Aug 01 '22

Not very kid friendly food for this type of show

4

u/umbracharon Aug 01 '22

Idk I feel like with the cartoons making ane brining them the food, they would be more willing to try something new even if it does look weird to them.

6

u/Kaladrax182 Aug 01 '22

If that kid is legit eating that octopus, I’m impressed.

16

u/ToonaSandWatch Aug 01 '22

Um, I’ll pretend I’m a kid to get this kind of entertainment dining out.

17

u/cvnp_guy Aug 01 '22

You will eat nothing and be happy

5

u/PhillMahooters Aug 01 '22

Reminds me of Plankton's meatloaf.

4

u/Fusaah Aug 01 '22

This is genius. It gives kids something to stimulate off of and it's cute.

3

u/puthiyatheru Aug 01 '22

Is a kid really going to eat grilled octopus in lobster bisque?

5

u/fte5838 Aug 01 '22

That's a lot of food for a kid. 1% shit though.

5

u/DiscoBiscuit06 Aug 01 '22

Holographic meatloaf again?

12

u/goodjobdoc Aug 01 '22

Thats so cool

21

u/between_horizon Aug 01 '22

Cool and cruel, perfect combination.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '22

Cruel? Why?

17

u/between_horizon Aug 01 '22

You see fish/lobster living happily in waters but you also see it getting dragged out of it. to place it on your plate.

13

u/raaneholmg Aug 01 '22

Honestly, kids do need to understand where food comes from. I was returning from hunting and the neighbor kid (4yo) was perplexed as to why I had dead birds in my car. He was surpriced by my response and proclaimed that they didn't eat birds in his family. Of course they did eat chicken, but he hadn't connected the dots between the food and the bird.

(I also pulled a potato out of the ground in front of him, which was the crasiest shit he had ever seen.)

6

u/mrfroggy Aug 01 '22

I was visiting some family in their farm. We were rounding up the lambs to send them off to market…

A few days later we were in a supermarket, and I said to my 5yo niece “maybe these are the lambs we rounded up the other day?” as we passed the meat aisle. She stopped and took a few seconds to process this information and connect the dots, and then she burst in to tears.

She was gonna figure it out sooner or later. I guess I just helped the process along a little bit.

8

u/IonBatteryFR Aug 01 '22

Dude 'kid' enjoys a show with dinner? I imagine most people would like this, I think its really cool

10

u/fiori_4u Aug 01 '22

Weird how they didn't show the adorable cows, piggies or sheep happily minding their business before getting slaughtered for that slab of meat

6

u/vertigofoo Aug 01 '22

There is one in Singapore as well ☺️

To bad I'm at the opposite end of the state. 😅 I'm still gonna get there one day!! Only $150ish. I've eaten at places where a 6 course dinner would run you 300-600$ and that's without the booze. 😅 So wanna go here!! Definitely taking the kids!!

7

u/awarenessofoneness Aug 01 '22

Hopefully this will teach children that they are being taught to eating living sentient beings and their natural empathy and compassion will make it uncomfortable to eat animal corpses.

1

u/SterlingMNO Aug 01 '22

Only when the corpses stop being so damn delicious

Hahaha wheelbarrow food, lassoing and riding a lobster. Lololol😂🤣👏👏👍 It's on the west coast "LA" and I'm on the east coast, right at near 2800 miles from me or else I'd be there in a heart beat. Too old to drive that far any more. My driving days are about all used up. Oh well 🤷‍♂️ such is life. 😒

3

u/rtangwai Aug 01 '22

There is one in Toronto, Ontario - if you live near the border it would be a much shorter trip.

Mind you at $130 CAD per person plus taxes and tip ($65 for kids) it better be worth it for you to do the trip.

2

u/guzma54 Aug 01 '22

Your first thought is to do a dramatic fist smash on the poor little man. Don’t lie.

2

u/ImDraconLion Aug 01 '22

that’s clever as hell. seeing your food get prepared like that.

2

u/Stock14 Aug 01 '22

Is it just me or did all the real food look the color shade of cafeteria food?

2

u/GlitteringNinja5 Aug 01 '22

This might be a good way to show the kids that chicken the food and chicken the bird are one and the same

3

u/WhatuuupKrisp Aug 01 '22

Now show them how they ACTUALLY get on their plates and let them know that they don't need to eat them to live healthily.

2

u/-Omni-Shadow- Aug 01 '22

Good way to keep people from complaining about the speed of the service.

2

u/throwthizout Aug 01 '22

Looks great but showing the dead animals wouldn’t fly with kids these days. Rightfully so tbh

2

u/Particular_Mud_8672 Aug 01 '22

Pov: children live's when I became an adult

2

u/GLaw777 Aug 01 '22

How cool is this wow ❤️🦋

2

u/cdub2369 Aug 01 '22

I like the idea but my kids are not eating all that fancy stuff. Dino nuggets, veggies and Mac & cheese 🧀 then they are talking.

2

u/Green_UWU_Tomatos Aug 01 '22

This is so cool

2

u/Changa_Dreams Aug 01 '22

Now do it with a monster hunter theme and calicos!

2

u/Puck023 Aug 01 '22

How hard is it to change the menu tho?

2

u/spectrum705 Aug 01 '22

OMG it is amazing!!

2

u/Limelight_019283 Aug 01 '22

Kids?! I would enjoy this so much and I’m 32!

2

u/Airysprite Aug 01 '22

That was a lot of food, no? I don’t think I could eat after the first two

2

u/LicensedRealtor Aug 01 '22

How much and who do I have to ask to replicate this at another location? Franchise it

2

u/Plastic-Election-780 Aug 02 '22

Until your kid asks you, "Is chicken REALLY chicken"

2

u/Uptonobadlad Aug 02 '22

Well, that kicks the shit out of crayons with a placemat

2

u/stubbadubdub Aug 02 '22

Those are really impressive dishes that my kids still wouldn't eat!

2

u/demotic74 Aug 02 '22

My name is Methuselah and I am very intrigued.

2

u/Mikrodotz Aug 02 '22

2

I was not prepared for the guy at 1:26. For some reason I feel like I've been hit on.

2

u/Andersjas21 Aug 02 '22

My kiddo would love this! I’ll look it up. Thanks

2

u/Predatorboi Aug 02 '22

And that will be $10,000, cash or credit?

2

u/AVB Aug 02 '22

This seems like it would be an irritating restaurant to eat at

2

u/benderlax Aug 02 '22

That seems so cool!

2

u/ASCIASIA Aug 15 '22

Love itttttt!

2

u/Odd_Ad_2307 18d ago

Yep, I’m a48 year old kid then. Very cool, where is this?

2

u/lachavela 4d ago

Do you really have to play that music ?? Or I could just mute it I guess haha!

3

u/druidcitychef Aug 01 '22

Yeh all funnand games till you have to spend 5000 on animation to change your plating because something gets shorted or discontinued.

10

u/Harates Aug 01 '22

With this level of negativity you can tell this guy fucks.

3

u/george-huntsville Aug 01 '22

As a kid I thought a tamagotchi was next level shit.

2

u/Mahyunk Aug 01 '22

Very good use of technology, kids look so intrigued by the animations. Good way to keep them busy

2

u/MyLilPiglets Aug 01 '22

I'd enjoy this show with dinner too

2

u/StarryNight7z Aug 01 '22

I’d love to take my kids there, how neat! :)

2

-1

u/lessFrozenHodor Aug 01 '22

Nice idea, but why is the restaurant still serving meat?

-3

u/TheStonePotato Aug 01 '22

Because it's healthy, full of protein, and has many nutrients a growing child needs to survive.

5

u/WhatuuupKrisp Aug 01 '22

It's not entirely healthy and proteins and those many nutrients you're talking about can be found in plant based food, too. Growing kids definitely don't need meat to survive.

1

what restaurant is this?

1

u/yvoshum Aug 01 '22

We went on a Celebrity cruise a few years ago, there was a Petite Chef restaurant on board, it was great fun!

1

u/Numptyville1 Aug 01 '22

Le petit chef I went to this when they visited London. It’s an amazing experience

We use to have a similar restaurant. It was a little French bistro my wife and I loved that place and they would have live music on the weekends. Unfortunately Covid claimed yet another fabulous restaurant.

Considering how expensive this place is... The poor peasant version of this is to take your TV/monitor and lay it down flat while watching POV plating videos.

Ah, yes a nice expensive Wagyu steak dinner.

1

u/LightOverWater Aug 01 '22
