Porcupine must taste good to go through all that

And the cat must be very hungry.

Yup, very desperate cat

I’m guessing there were no winners here, only that the porcupine lost first.

Dedication, don't think I know what it's like to be that hungry thankfully

Fits way better in r/natureismetal

Looks like a learned tactic to lay down next to the porcupine and swat at the underneath

Seems that way. I did animal rescue before and dealt with a porcupine once. They aren't that bad to handle if you go from their belly side. A lot of their quills can easily combed out of the way too. Im sure this big cat ended up with a few pokes but not as much as when you see dogs after a fight.

Quills have hooks so they can only go further in, not out. This means they can end up penetrating the brain or joints and ligaments, though this can take months or even years. Wildlife not having access to a vet makes for a very different outcome.

Thats very true. Animals dont have that luxury of always getting human help. Would be interesting to see how the cat fared in the end. Almost looks like it did get spiked a few times at one point.

It’s like going to In-N-Out Burger and being required to eat a ghost pepper before you can order a double double.

u/devinlor 15d ago

Dude's been shooting out spines here and there, how come the leopard doesn't have one stuck on its face?

7

u/GrungyGemini 15d ago

You see him pull one out

6

u/Tymdek 15d ago

Porcupines can't shoot their spines. They just come loose really easily.

u/ChroniclesofSamuel 15d ago

In for a penny, in for a pound, thinks the leopard

1

u/Barbarosa61 15d ago

I think that is how Fishers eat porcupines. Go for the belly, smart kitty

1

u/Orbus_215 15d ago

How do people think porcupines shoot their spines out, that sounds bizarre

1

u/winkman 15d ago

Dude EARNED that meal!

1

u/Btravelen 15d ago

He/she apparently learned to stay low and go for the underbelly

1

u/Glitchy_Jackk 15d ago

Who filmed this?

1

u/dagui12 15d ago

I have won, but at what cost

1

u/atomek_xxi 15d ago

Porcupine must be fucking delicious!

1

u/BartuceX 14d ago

Nature sucks.

-9

u/thisguyallenn 15d ago

Fun fact: The leopard later died while attempting to finish the meal.

9

u/datpuz 15d ago

Source?

-10

u/Syera-2311 15d ago

No source needed, if an animal get so many quils in it’s face it’s a matter of time before these quils migrate. And they go to the eyes en brain. They can even migrate to longs and the heart. So this was a death sentence.

3

u/RDxSpartanDude 15d ago

Not to mention infection it cause

3

u/ginge159 15d ago

No source needed because I can say even more utter bollocks.

1

u/buell_ersdayoff 15d ago

I believe there's another video when you can clearly see a leopard that got a barb to his heart and did die. I believe this is a different one.
