Man⦠I should of thought about checking out the subreddit when doing my research. Iām moving cross country. I went through Franklin and it seemed absolutely dreamy and welcoming so this is a bit disheartening.
To be faaaaiiirrr, Franklin is considered a little more ācountryā than Brentwood, but Brentwood is also full of wealthy snobs. It depends on what you can tolerate more. Then once you get closer to the city there are some pockets of more left-leaning people. Lotta hipsters in east nashville. Good luck!
East Nashville has its own brand of hipster snobbish. Belmont, Sylvan Park and The Nations are nice. 12South and The Gulch and Germantown are gentrified to Hell and back.
Franklin is where the rich, stuck-up, still comically ignorant assholes live. They are not only willfully ignorant but also entitled beyond description, irredeemably racist, unabashedly bigoted, and they think they are all God's gift to humankind - like, in a literal sense. It's a trip.
Pretty, though. And about the best you'll get in Tennessee, although Chattanooga has a better overall vibe with a bit more noticeable poverty issues. If you get burned out in Franklin, you can always come to Chatty.
Hermitage is alright. It's been over a decade, but when I lived there it was just a cheaper area to live with not a lot going on. It's a short commute to the airport and downtown. Percy Priest lake is in your backyard.
My brother moved to Hermitage. Bought a very nice condo there and at the first HOA meeting he attended, it was mentioned that he moved there from Boston. The HOA President then snarkily said āOh, I didnāt think we sold to Yankees!ā and everyone laughed their heads off. Yeah, Iād have decked the a$$hole!
Iāve lived in Boston most of my life and, no, that kind of rude remark would never be said. We have manners.
And you may not think itās much, but my brother felt so unwelcomed and no one has made any attempt to be the least bit friendly.
My brother, after two years there, is seriously looked at moving out of that area of the country.
Lol ok. Boston is definitely known for their mild mannered politeness. Maybe no one has made an attempt to talk to him cause he was so butthurt from an obvious joke. Tell him to move to east Nashville. Seems more his demographic.
