It’s what happens when someone who is secretly deeply, deeply insecure about a certain “belief” (or, opinion, in this case, though they will pass it off as belief) encounters validation for said “belief”, but the source of said validation is still weak at best. She’s literally so (unconsciously) desperate to shore up her house-of-cards world view that any sort of positive echo in the void is devoured.
