“Cross over! They cannot arrest all of us,” a horse-mounted protester encourages the crowd at today's Australian anti-lockdown protest in Queensland-New South Wales.

They can take our lives, but they can’t make us wear……MAAAAAAAAAAASKS

Fucking LARPing idiots.

4

u/Okami-Alpha 22d ago

Damn, you beat me to it. I was so going to post a Braveheart meme.

5

u/muncherofhay 22d ago

I see an entire country come and stand in support of COVID.

4

u/No-Sheepherder-2896 22d ago

Dammit, I was going to do a Braveheart reference. Yours is good, though.

-16

u/ike_02 22d ago

Australian COVID restrictions are legitimately too harsh and authoritarian, I see where they’re coming from

2

u/joiheadonly 22d ago

The government is basically bankrupting its own citizens by shuttering business and not compensating them in any meaningful way. You all want to talk about masks and vaccines helping others but when your fellow countrymen are losing their homes and going hungry you get real quiet real quick.

-21

u/codynorthwest 22d ago

yeah, this 100% isn’t about masks. it’s about businesses not being able to operate and the government forcing their citizens to stay inside. it’s insanity.

3

u/623-252-2424 22d ago

You would make a great mayor for Amity Island.

-15

u/KamalasKackle 22d ago

Wait you think that’s what is happening over there and you call them idiots ? Yikes

6

u/623-252-2424 22d ago

I live near Coolangatta, and yes, they are idiots. Massive idiots.

-24

u/Wizard_Nose 22d ago

Ok but Australia is pretty ridiculous. Don’t they have drones and helicopters watching neighborhoods to make sure no one leaves their houses?

-1

u/623-252-2424 22d ago edited 22d ago

That sounds awesome. They should double the number of drones.

Edit: looks like the /s was needed.

-1

u/Wizard_Nose 22d ago

Yeah and then they should get the drones to make sure people aren’t speeding, or drinking underage!

0

u/623-252-2424 22d ago

Great idea. A drone per person would be great to make sure no laws are ever broken.

69

u/purespringwater 22d ago

Does this cunt think he's William Wallace or something? Fucking idiot...

13

u/Korenzo 22d ago

"Can't be. Not tall enough."

7

u/Big-Pudding-7440 22d ago

William Wallace is 7 feet tall.

6

u/MadRonnie97 22d ago

Yes, I’ve heard. Kills men by the hundreds, and if he were here he’d consume the English with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightening from his arse.

3

u/Laguer1985 22d ago

Thank you for this

1

u/xerxerxex 21d ago

I am William Wallace! And I see a whole army of my countrymen, here in defiance of tyranny. You've come to fight as free men.

1

u/MadRonnie97 21d ago

And free men you are. What will you do with that freedom? Will you fight?!

1

u/xerxerxex 21d ago

Fight? Against that? No! We will run. And we will live.

1

u/MadRonnie97 21d ago

Aye, fight and you may die. Run and you’ll live, at least a while. Dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just ONE CHANCE, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they will never take….

1

u/xerxerxex 21d ago

Que bag pipes

3

Funny thing is that Mel Gibson actually lived relatively close to where the video was taken. I live walking distance to his house lol.

I live in Gold Coast also, had no idea he was up here.

53

u/queernhighonblugrass 22d ago

Crazy how people can come out in full force of numbers to protest something that is slightly inconvenient to them instead real world woes that effect all of us.

13

u/D45ers 22d ago

Wait? I thought this was a scene from brave heart

5

u/youngthugsbrother 22d ago

What is happening in places in Australia like NSW is not even remotely close to "slightly inconvenient". They have been in a COVID Lockdown for a while now, and this is not an advisory lockdown or anything, this is a strict lockdown. You can't travel 5 km away from your home, you are only allowed 1 hour outside, violate any of these for any reason and thats a multiple thousand dollar fine. All the while, the government is vaccinating at a snails pace. It's inhumane, and I feel for every Australian who has to go through this insanity.

0

u/converter-bot 22d ago

5 km is 3.11 miles

13

u/mamadidntraisenobitc 22d ago

Are you aware of what’s going on in Australia? It’s not “slightly inconvenient”

13

u/tibbycat 22d ago

Death from covid is more inconvenient than lockdowns, curfews, and masks.

-12

u/IngFavalli 22d ago

No they aren't

3

u/windowcircle 22d ago

Pfffff it’s only bad if you have basic human empathy amirite

5

u/IngFavalli 22d ago

This isn't about empathy, out of measure lock down can have worse implications down the line than no lockdown at alll

12

u/tibbycat 22d ago

Death is not inconvenient? Huh.

-6

u/IngFavalli 22d ago

Not in social economics no, you gotta balance how many deaths are acceptable vs deaths generated by excessive lock down (which can actually lead to less effectiveness of it as a measure)

So the question is, how many yearly deaths is the acceptable amount?

6

u/tibbycat 22d ago

It’s going to be pretty inconvenient for me if I die from covid thanks to people not wearing masks, not social distancing, and not getting vaccinated.

5

u/GenX-2K21 22d ago

But if you have the vaccination then you have nothing to worry about.

-4

u/IngFavalli 22d ago

Yes, but we aren't talking about invididuals inconveniences, we are talking about a population, not down to the invididual

6

u/tibbycat 22d ago

I am talking about individuals though. The over 4 million humans who have been inconvenienced from being dead from covid.

-1

u/IngFavalli 22d ago

Appeal to emotion have no use in a conversation about this, as fucked as it is stopping the disgusting system we have causes a ton of deaths and suffering too, and in bigger number if done in a very stupid fashion

-9

u/Im_A_Thing 22d ago

I'm literally more likely to get struck by lightning than to die of COVID.

I've NEVER personally know ANYONE to die of COVID.

I'm not trading my rights and power to protect me from the boogieman

But hey I've got this Boogieman Protection Plan guaranteed to keep him from EATING you and your children; only $1. Why not? It's just a minor inconvenience.

Send $1 to $Fraxal on CashApp to protect you from Boogie or STFU

12

u/tibbycat 22d ago edited 22d ago

About 2000 people worldwide are annually killed by lightning. (Source: National Geographic)

Since the pandemic started there’s been about 4,400,284 deaths worldwide from Covid-19. (Source: World Health Organization)

Conclusion: You’re more likely to die from covid than lightning.

2

u/gt_pop 21d ago

Are you aware of what these people are actually protesting about? Australia is a large place.

1

u/mamadidntraisenobitc 21d ago

If the title is correct, these are protests aimed at the insane lockdown measures currently in effect in Australia?

1

u/gt_pop 21d ago

Nope. These guys are protesting the fact we have cut a town (The Tweed) into 2 and drawn a hard border. 1 half of the town is in 1 state (QLD), the other half is in a other (NSW).

Why did they get cut off? 1 state actually does hard lockdowns early to stop the spread of rona and has been successful everytime so far (QLD). The other state said lockdowns are not necessary and took their time implementing any restrictions (NSW) and are still half assing it. They are now weeks into it and their numbers of new infections have grown substantially and its spreading beyond their major city (sydney) with no downward trend in sight yet. Because of their lax controls, a numpty that had rona travelled up to Byron Bay (45min south of the border) and infected the town for a few days.

It's tough for a lot of those people that live at the Tweed because they cant get to work or go about their lives normally. But this is a bigger problem because 1 entire state is out of lockdowns because we've listened, locked down early and are back to normal within a couple of weeks. The other state is rooted and have pretty much given up on being able to control it.

Being in QLD i do feel sorry, but I support the fact we have cut them off. Our state offered a number of options to help that border town and surrounding area, but the arrogance of the failing government in NSW said no. So, we've cut them off.

Our federal gov didnt secure enough vaccines so we dont have the luxury of protecting ourselves any other way.

1

u/mamadidntraisenobitc 21d ago

Seems like a misleading title to me. Thanks for all of the information

2

u/gt_pop 21d ago

No worries. Always good to clear up misrepresented information when possible.

0

u/GolerFamilyTree 22d ago

What's going on there that isn't going on elsewhere?

0

u/mamadidntraisenobitc 21d ago

You can’t leave your house without a permit and a mask and if you break their rules, you could be fined up to almost $5k

1

u/GolerFamilyTree 21d ago

I just looked up the rules for that region and people don't need a permit to leave their house. Their stadiums are allowed to operate with crowds.

It's basically the same rules as where I live in Canada.

We've had similar rules in place, if not more strict, for around 16 months now.

12

u/fountainoftales 22d ago

My whole building was put into a forced 14 day quarantine because one person had covid in a building which houses well over a 1000 people. I couldn't even take my rubbish to the bin on the same floor under threat of $5000 fines, nor did I have a choice with people police knocking (loud knocking) my fucking door 4 to 5 times a day during that period and yelling at me for information that I gave to the asshole before them that cop knocked on my door too.

This was in Australia, and that was a whole lot more then slightly inconvenient. Thanks for speaking for me.

-2

u/ABarInFarBombay 22d ago

That's his point, you clearly don't know how easy you've got it compared to the rest of the world. 14 day lockdown and he thinks he's Shawshank Redemption. Pull your head in!

-2

u/allenthalben2 22d ago

God my heart fucking bleeds for you mate, must be pretty awful that the Aussies are now finally realising the hell most other countries in the world have been going through for the past 1.5 years.

You sound like a child. Get over yourself. The longer you lot continue to act like children because of a lockdown, the longer you'll be in lockdown, and the more the Delta variant will spread. And Australia hasn't got a hope in hell against it because practically no-one in the country has antibodies, let alone been doubly vaccinated.

And yet somehow I know despite all of this, y'all continue to re-elect the absolute moron who doesn't believe in climate change.

8

u/An_Aesthete 22d ago

I live in the most proactive city against Covid in the US and I have never seen anything remotely close to what this guys is describing. And considering that this city has had the lowest case and deathrates of any major city in the country, I find it hard to believe that what he's describing would be necessary

4

u/CrusaderTheTater 21d ago

ANY criticism of a COVID policy is now verboten.

Australia is going overboard, this is coming from someone who is fully vax'd and wears masks indoors:

See this story, where the local government thought it best to shoot dead several dogs slated to be adopted to their forever homes to prevent the adopters from traveling: https://www.yahoo.com/now/local-council-shoots-rescue-dogs-195000980.html

4

u/An_Aesthete 21d ago

yeah people are making fun of his response, but if he's telling the truth that's fucking insane. Police coming around to make sure you're home, what the fuck?

4

u/fountainoftales 21d ago

Mate I have all the text messages and email correspondence to prove it, I'm happy to pass it along to any media company that will get it out there.

The shit that is happening in Australia, let alone my city of Melbourne is fkn wrong.

2

u/tibbycat 22d ago

Yep I’m sad for my country if Scott Morrison somehow gets re-elected after his numerous disasters in the last two years.

-1

u/fountainoftales 21d ago edited 21d ago

You sound like an absolute wanker, like literally you should of been a blowjob that your mum spat out because you were unworthy. I'm also assuming your parents did a shit job raising you with the way you speak to people.

Either in fact you are just a fkn dead shit and would of been bashed multiple times over their life and missing most your teeth if you came from where I am speaking like that, or you're a paid basher based on your response. In anycase, you should feel ashamed.

Lets get a few things straight.

Most countrys aren't quarantining entire buildings because of one person. Nor do most countrys issues $5000 fines for minors issues.

My city Melbourne has spent more then 200 days in lockdown longer then anywhere else in the world but your ignorant red neck ass would say otherwise, yet my country has only had 1000 deaths in total.

And let me make this last point clear: you should of been a blowjob.... don't make the same mistake your whore of a mum did... please don't breed.

Edit: I just realised you're german, and you're ranting about my country electing the wrong leader.... thats literally the funniest shit a german could say. Least my family and 60% of my country have never elected a real Nazi you ungrateful free riding fuck. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

(BTW you still owe us money for the Marshall plan, perhaps you could take it from the money Germany and France extort from Western Africa every year.)

(Eg. Climate change according to a German and west African.

German: Ooh yum this shiza tastes nice, fuck we need to do something about these factorys making this polution!!!

African: we don't have any factories, we need some tho the jobs and money could help my people alot.

German: no don't you get it!!! you can't have any, ive got an idea how about we sell you everything you need?

African: huh what? We don't have any money France took it all.

German: thats alright we will tell France to give you a bigger allowance, and to boot we will get the whole world to give you subsidies so you never need to build them and can always buy through us.

African: wait thats kinda fucked up...

German wipes shit from mouth

German: if you don't agree, France will invade your country.

African: okay we will do it your way)

For anyone who is curious about modern European colonialism

-2

u/GolerFamilyTree 22d ago

LOL. So you had to endure what the rest of the world was going through for the past year and a half. Poor little guys.

1

u/fountainoftales 21d ago edited 21d ago

Melbourne city (where I live) has had the longest lockdowns in the world you fkn nuff nuff.

Are you stupid as fuck? Or are you just some type of paid basher? I'm assuming the latter with a response like that.

Please don't breed, do everyone a favour and get a Vasectomy.

0

u/GolerFamilyTree 21d ago

I'm in Nova Scotia, where we have had restrictions and state of emergency in place for 16 months. That's 7 months longer than Melbourne, so figure it out.

2

u/IngFavalli 22d ago

Lock downs, even more so at the level australia took it, are not a slight inconvenient

27

u/newaccount252 22d ago

I don’t understand what their logical thinking is, if Covid gets worse because of large gatherings the government will keep the lockdown going…..

16

u/Pleasework94 22d ago

That’s the problem, they don’t think (logically).

2

u/UncleSpoons 22d ago

Their goal is for a covid lockdown to be a politically untenable position. If politicians are concerned that it will hurt their favorability, it won't be instituted

1

u/Thanos_Stomps 22d ago

They can be wrong, but still logical. This is the very premise of any protest of rights being infringed upon. They’ll never change the segregation laws if colored folks keep gathering in whites only areas.

1

u/newaccount252 22d ago

What the fuck are you talking about ‘coloured folk’ for?

0

u/TuaTurnsdaballova 22d ago

They want a suicide lottery because they are contrarians who cannot accept working together or agreeing with the “other” side. They’ve shifted from: “fake virus!” (and now silently admit it’s real); to “vaccines are dangerous!” (and now silently admitting they work), to “we want naturally acquired antibodies until herd immunity!” (and now call getting infected their “patriotic duty!”). That is insanity. It’s like bug chasers in the gay community who want to get HIV/AIDS so they can be part of that community.

They celebrate anytime the EU or WHO request vaccine makers to investigate possible side effects in some individuals. Think about that. They celebrate any possibility that the vaccines may hurt people. That says everything to me.

They’re lost now.

The Bible says a lot about hubris and excessive pride, not that these cross-clutching people would care 🙄

1

u/taurine14 21d ago

It’s more to do with the fact the Australian government have chosen endless lockdowns over vaccines. They’re really, REALLY behind on their vaccine numbers because they didn’t bother ordering enough last year when Pfizer found it - their strategy is to just lock down every time there are a few cases reported. It’s kinda ruining people’s lives.

-1

u/Not_my_real_name____ 22d ago

That's kind of fucked up...

1

u/ok_krypton 18d ago

Sorry but what he's condoning is a lot more fucked up, disregard masks and risk spreading a disease to your family and loved ones just because he doesn't believe in a virus that can serious fuck with someone's quality of life. The guy can do what he wants but don't blame anyone if he's gets the virus then have to rely on an already strained public health system to help if he does.

1

u/Not_my_real_name____ 18d ago

I would have to agree that they are both pretty fucked up. We shouldn't wish harm on other people or intentionally spread disease. I'm ready for an asteroid to take us all out instead of us slowly killing one another and living in anger. The last 5 years, this whole world has really turned into a dumpster fire.

NSW is a fkn swamp of infectious people, QLD blocking the border between the two makes total sense.
