Why is the narrative of the coming election focused on age instead of policy? Meta

Is the age of a candidate more important than their policies? Bernie Sanders is old as the hills but his policies are more progressive than any politician I've seen in my lifetime. Is age just a distraction?

For sure. I'm Canadian myself. American politics have a pretty big impact here, and generally it's what I see here. Sorry. Obviously people the world over use the internet. Should've tagged "United States".
