Dallas County can require masks, judge rules - siding against Gov. Greg Abbott

this ain't uplifting at all. did anyone actually read the article. literally in the second paragraph.
Jenkins’ latest court victory will more than likely be short-lived. Attorney General Ken Paxton is all but guaranteed to appeal the ruling from state District Judge Tonya Parker — who blocked Abbott from enforcing his executive order that prohibits local mask mandates.
the article then goes on to pant a pattern of major urban centers challenging the governor, winning in local courts, and then having the ruling overturned in the states supreme court.

Regardless, mandating things to try and calm down rising numbers isn't uplifting. It's sad and depressing.

Depends how you look at it. I find it uplifting that there is people in management that actually are educated and looking at the facts, who fight the fight against stupidity when it is endangering everyone and put their reputations on the line to make the right call for everyone's safety.

For this current situation, and the way the numbers are, I can see the short term benefit. I fear for the long term repercussions that may follow giving these kind of powers to any government. Despotism can sneak in or barge in. I'm not saying these government workers and politicians are despotic at all. I worry about future installations of government that can find ways to abuse systems implemented with good intentions.
Vaccine passports, if used, need a clear expiry determination. Emergency powers need clear points to when they will be relinquished. Without these, you end up with systems run amok, ending in outcomes similar to the NSA spying on every American citizen.
We just can't be so quick to cheer or jeer things without sitting back and understanding a little bit further than just getting out of our current crisis. Without circumspection, we can get blind sided by a crisis that is even worse. Measure twice, cut once.
I understand this view point may upset people. I do not mean any disrespect. I am not attempting to convince anyone that I am right, or they are wrong. I want us all to co exist, be each other's neighbor, instead of their enemy bc of political leanings.
Love you all. 💖

It, titled on-screen as It: Chapter One, is a 2017 American coming-of-age supernatural horror film based on Stephen King's 1986 novel of the same name. The film was produced by New Line Cinema, KatzSmith Productions, Lin Pictures, and Vertigo Entertainment. It is the first film in the It film series as well as being the second adaptation following Tommy Lee Wallace's 1990 miniseries. It tells the story of seven children in Derry, Maine who are terrorized by the eponymous being, only to face their own personal demons in the process. The film is also known as It: Part 1 – The Losers' Club.

At this point they should all just openly defy Abbot. What's he gonna do, close the schools?

I love it when hypocrisy smashes you in the face.
"Get big government out of our lives" while state government interferes the shit out of local cities.

The states had authority before the federal government was formed. They
concededceded (damn autocorrect) certain powers to the federal government. But local governments have always derived their authority from the existing state government. So "get big government out of our lives" is applicable to the states keeping the federal government away from their powers, but is not applicable to local governments who have always been subordinate to the states.

It’s almost like infringing on the rights and freedoms of private business isn’t constitutional.

Fact, mRNA has been studied for 15 years. fact, it is completely removed from your body after two weeks after creating antibodies. Fact you're an idiot who doesn't understand medicine and thinks he knows more than scientists

Fact. I have my own antibodies. Fact 80% of patients are obese. So why don't we tell people to lose weight and be healthy? Your an idiot who thinks daddy government is always right. MrNA has never been used on the masses. People have died already. And I don't give a shit what you or anyone else has to say about it.
