I'm coming up on a half century on the planet; therefore, I will treat myself. I found I fine whisky shop in Ginza, Tokyo that has about 6 expressions of Octomore. Looking for some tips and experiences. Prices are about 140-220$.

I disagree with the advice to pick the one with the highest ppm. They have different cask makeups that make a bigger difference in flavor than a few parts per million. You should be aware of that and choose based on your tastes. For example, the 10 years 4th edition was virgin oak, which some people don’t like. The third edition had a much wider range of cask types. All the other ones you mentioned are bourbon cask matured and younger, but the .3 editions use Islay barley which gives it a slightly different flavor.

Good to know, I am aware that ppm isn't everything. I was reading up on them on the Bruichladdich website. They include a flavor graph with each one... I think I'll refer to this in my process. The staff is ultra knowledgeable, so I'll own on them too. Cheers!!!

Octomore 8.4 is the best I've had, but the 11.1 was crazy good too. Imo, most pick the one with the most ppm and you won't regret it.

I was thinking along those lines.... This shop also does paid tastings, but not of the octamore....

If they let you try a ton of other stuff, paid tastings can be amazing! I hope they're reasonably priced and that you take advantage of that opportunity(:

It's a small shop... Tastings start at 200¥ (about 2$) for a 10 ml pour. Also can do sample bottlings 🥳to go of up to 100ml, I think... Not everything is available but lots there....
