I just wish America was as good as Americans think we are.

At least we're kind of waking up to the fact now.

Maybe by the time we get more elected officials in office that don't currently qualify for social security we can start making meaningful change?

So we can get young career politicians? Just make America a direct democracy for this next phase of evolution, see how it goes.

Be the America you thought we were growing up.

It hurts to realize that we aren't, but that doesn't mean Captain America shouldn't be our aspiration. I believe we can be who we thought we were - we just have to buckle down and commit to what we say we believe in.

I dunno I'm kinda team Captain Carter after watching What If...

She's a good person but also totally knocks the fuck out of a ton of Nazis with style, she fought friggin' airplanes. Captain America is great and all but Nazis need a little more of a kick in my opinion.

The local PD also tends to be the local meeting point for the local nazis.

I wonder if that has anything to do with them not looking kindly on it ?

I can’t. You get arrested or sued for that.

Bush: The Sequel took office the year after I graduated high school. Up to that point, I was blissfully ignorant about politics. After 9/11 I really started paying attention. The response and subsequent war that followed sickened me. That administration just completely soured me on any sort of respect for politicians. There was a slightly lesser evil after that, and I felt that at least we hit a plateau. Then came the would-be god emperor. And watching as all the normally dormant, quiet and reserved neighbors and family members start foaming at the mouth for him, made me lose all respect for this country. I live in my little nook, away from close-by neighbors and that's good for now, but I'm working on my departure from these great states.

We used to do great things that a lot of the world took inspiration from. Then we sat back stagnating in our awesomeness for 60 years while a lot of the world kept building.

Don't worry, the GQP will indoctrinate - er, educate - the coming generations on America's blameless exceptionalism.

Just focus on what our scientists and engineers are doing. Cancer and neuroscience advancements, Space X leading the charge to Mars and making Jeff Bezos eat shit. There’s a lot of crappy shit happening, but there’s also some incredible technology being made. We could soon have starships transporting life-saving medicines or humanitarian aid by the hundreds of tons to anywhere in the world within an hour.

What's the point in advancements in cancer treatment if patients go bankrupt trying to afford it?

Right? This dude is looking at things from the exact wrong end. You shouldn't judge a society based on what big bright shiny things they make, but rather how they treat their most vulnerable and unprotected portions of their populace.

I mean I'd rather be alive and bankrupt to be fair

You realize SpaceX is just as bad as Bezos right?

1

u/SpaceBoJangles 27d ago

…no, they aren’t. BO was founded before them and has launched a rocket 16 times. None of them reached orbit and they have yet to produce an engine years behind schedule, having cost American tax payers hundreds of millions if not billions.

Space X on the other hand has launched more times than that to orbit just in the past year, not to mentioned they’re developing the rocket that will take us back to the moon and on to Mars, as well as putting together an internet satellite system that will form the backbone of possibly the most significant communications network in human history.

And on top of that, they ARE the backbone of the NASA human spaceflight program. Comparing them proves nothing other than the fact you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Or that I have the understanding that privatizing space is a brilliant way to end the democratic endeavor.
