A couple years ago, I was waiting in line for coffee at an airport. In front of me was a man in uniform and a middle-aged woman right behind him.
She asked to pay for his coffee and he politely refused.
She pushed again. Again, he politely refused.
She then started scolding and cursing him.
It was sad really. She was clearly doing it for her own self indulgence. Something to make herself feel better.
I thought about jumping in, but I didn’t want to contradict my own observations. He’s a grown ass man with a livable wage. He doesn’t need some scrawny white boy taking his side in a stupid tiff at an airport.
Don’t get me wrong, I respect what he and others do for this country. That doesn’t mean I’m instantly his friend or anything though. At the end of the day, we’re all just humans trying to get by.
