Never forget! Mudrick Capital with them paper hands! #MoonGang #AMC 🚀🌕 Meme

u/Flokki_the_Monk 23d ago
I remember when the board was spammed with endless posts making fun of Mudrick for this.
Blocked out all discussion of how it wasn't a dumb move, but them purposefully diluting buying pressure to try to keep the run-up from going too high.
Maybe now we can focus on how this was an attack on our stock, clear market manipulation, and not just continue with, "lol Mudrick dumb."

Why did AA sell and then stand up for Mudrick after what they did? I still don't understand this

u/No_Mango1224 23d ago
AA is a snake too. Not our friend. Just like the request for additional times.

u/certifiedfairwitness 23d ago
I wouldn't go so far as to say snake...the man had bills to pay and we were all writing him checks. I doubt any businessman would drive down his own stock price simply for the sake of driving it down. You're right about him not betting on a squeeze, though.

Especially if he screwed us, we’d dump amc like super fast and he wouldn’t have the residual perceived value to dilute on later.
What’s good for us is that we’ve got a CEO that’s looking at a longer term vision than 1 quarter into the future and is likely wicked good at chess.

u/forlornself Diamond Hands 23d ago
This is likely the real intention of their sell off. Regardless if it was a dumb short term strategy, it was likely part of a bigger long term strategy to push the stock price down and prolong moass

Yep!
That Mudrick thing was sus af. They just dumped it like it as a burning bag of poop. When it made no sense at all to do it from where I sat.
And they were super loud about it too. When I thought these big tutes justified dark pools because they wanted to camouflage “big moves.”
I think they did it as a favor, to both cause a price drop and bad news blitz. Give it a while, if certain💩 survives, in a couple years I bet they call that favor in.
Not financial advice, and I’m a crayon eating tard.

u/One-Detective-2087 23d ago
Not only that, they actually lost money cuz they fucked with derivatives and got burnt!!!!! Those news came out about a month later after they sold shares

u/drhiggens 23d ago edited 23d ago
Yeah right after they sold they bought a bunch of put contracts and as the price went up they got burned and lost everything they made from the sale and then some lol

Uhm..
You don't grasp the WHOLE dimension..
EDIT:: no, I meant, how they not only made less than they had, but how they lost hundreds of millions betting against it, because they did not close down the shorts they had.
They effectively were never long.

u/This-Understanding85 23d ago
It cost them $300 million. They did it to avoid a larger loss based on some new DD about the future contract roll over period.

Not only did they sell to try and trigger a FUD sell-off on the open market, they sold Calls, and bought puts. All in they lost more than what they made from the sale. Idiots.

u/paulh804 23d ago
remember that can happen even if you own a few shares. not selling till it becomes life changing.

This is the bag holder dilemma though and the beginning of FOMO.
At the end of the day, you just have to be happy with your choice and live with it.

Big funds like Mudrick can't time the market with all of the extra information they are privy too, and they are called "smart money". Retail is here doing our own autistic DD, we believe in our investments, while making hundreds of percent gains and yet we are the "dumb money"... I just don't get it...

Was to dilute buying pressure. And how many relatively new institutional holders are long on AMC? Expect many of them to Mudrick it. 😂
Hope Fidelity hodls, for their sake. Cuz I like em!

u/ImNoSage 23d ago
Mudrick Capital also massively shorted AMC at the same time, inadvertently triggering the gamma squeeze that pushed AMC over $70 as they ran to cover. Seems like karma for all the other companies they bankrupted over the years while "helping" them with loans.

it feels more on purpose than an " oooops" wasnt Mudrick cap's original purchase, pushing the price up because amc was selling/giving it to them directly or something?. to pay off debt, from a previous contract between the 2. only to sell it quickly make a profit, only to lose it on puts? thats just fucking stupid sounding when you step back and look at wtf actually went on and when. it was over the course of a few days wasnt it.. just wow.. I'm going with Mudrick has never been a "friend" to amc. mudrick is/was, just another shark looking to get a bite.
2
u/Addicted2Tendies 23d ago
That’s incorrect. They actually lost money because they were short call options when they sold. They closed their short calls for big losses when we ran up to $70

Wasn't it later established that the "overvalued" remark came from an anonymous source that mysteriously no one could trace or verify?
Not saying Mudrick didn't paperhand, but let's be clear on the facts here.

Mudrick LOST MONEY...
Because after selling it, they shorted it right after, and then the stock took off to $72 and they had to close their short position at a big loss outweighing anything they made!
lolololol

This goes to show that even the "experts" don't know everything going on behind the scenes

they didnt sell they wrote covered calls and they got exercised.
they werent intending to sell just generate revenue

This is like Dennis Schroeder not taking the 84 mil contract extension during the season from the Lakers and is now negotiating a 1 year deal worth 5 mil with the Celtics.

Not only did they sell, they also sold call options which made them loose all the gains and some more.

They made a profit, it is the only thing that is important. The difference between Mudrick capital and average investor, Mudrick is constantly making profit. They followed their DD and sold, good for them.

u/professorbc 23d ago
What the fuck is wrong with you people?? This is classic "I have a crystal ball" thinking. They made 40 million and you're sitting here going "I'm smarter than that". Jesus you need a reality check.
-2
u/indoor_grower 23d ago edited 23d ago
$40 million is more than they had on May 31st... Can't cry over spilled milk and certainly not over $40 million. It's less than $350 million I already know.
What I am saying is it's easy to retrospectively say exactly what you or anyone shoulda done. I shoulda bought BTC in 2012 but waited until 2016. Should of played puts on SPY in March of 2020. Should of evacuated the World Trade Center buildings at 8am on 9/11/01.
Not shilling for a hedge fund here, just pointing out the obvious. They made a real $40 million from AMC with the information they had on June 1st, 2021, not with any foresight into what was going to happen on June, 2nd 2021. Actually proves that at least this hedgefund is playing by the rules to some regard. Where was the insider trading info at for them to of sold on June 2nd? They are super connected right? Surely a hedgie would have the insider info to know to sell on June 2nd instead of the 1st? If they would of waited by chance to sell on 6/2, everyone would of said they knew something was going to happen. Not this post making fun of the real $40 million they made. You're just mad that is wasn't you.
AMC will not be a company in 5-10 years. Streaming will win, and eventually, what are they going to charge $40 ticket prices to even begin to cover operational costs across the company? Sorry but Marvel vs DC Fuck A Thon Part 10 won't save the box office. AMC is worse off now than pre-pandemic, and it only looks good on paper because of the inflated share price and stock sell offs. If ya'll think a bunch of Redditors who will drive 6 hours to go to an AMC will save this ship, good luck lol. They will eventually not be 18 years old and will realize driving 6 hours to a movie theatre is retarded. AMC will never recover, maybe it will putter in the wind for a bit, but when all this meme stock shit dies off and the CEO and Co's pockets are lined with their retirement, I guess someone does win in the end.

The squeeze in June. When AMC went to $70 dollars and all of the shorts covered and the CEO of AMC warned investors that it was a risky investment and that they could lose all of their money.
As soon as AMC needs more money to keep the doors open a share offering is on the way.....or Jan 3rd 2022
