That was a rocket. Playing H-O-R-S-E with Judge.

u/IrrationalYankeesFan New York Yankees 17d ago

He came back from heaven just for that moonshot.

82

u/meahoymemoyay Florida Marlins 17d ago

It would be awesome to host the wild card games at the field of dreams from now on

41

u/person7849 Cincinnati Reds 17d ago

Let’s make a petition to start having Wild Card games at the Field of Dreams field

33

u/sokonek04 Milwaukee Brewers 17d ago

The issue is the corn will be dead in October, so instead of the nice cool green corn it will be brown and shitty.

u/raikou1988 Oakland Athletics 16d ago

Modern problems require modern solutions

-17

u/RegularEality Chicago Cubs 17d ago

How about a field with more real history than being the set of a fictional movie from 30+ years ago?

33

u/trumpet575 Cincinnati Reds 17d ago

Rookie of the Year came out only 28 years ago so Wrigley is out

24

u/RamblingRanter Chicago White Sox 17d ago

I don’t this we’ll have to worry about Wrigley hosting the wildcard, or any playoff games, anytime soon

4

u/RegularEality Chicago Cubs 17d ago

This is correct.

19

u/Yankeeknickfan New York Yankees 17d ago

I disagree. The home crowd makes the playoffs

42

u/NerevarineTribunal Cleveland Indians 17d ago

In 15 years people will be saying corn crowd makes the playoffs. Get on the train or get run over old man

11

u/yianni1229 New York Yankees 17d ago

Heaney starting a wild card game would make me cry lol

154

u/LBramit13 Los Angeles Angels 17d ago

Of course the deceased player comes back to hit a homer on this field

5

u/WizTheNose 17d ago

sending a souvenir to his homies upstairs

big fan of all these corn homers🌽

I love how the ball just disappears.

u/HumanzeesAreReal Chicago White Sox 17d ago

It’s almost 80 degrees with over 80 percent humidity. This is primo Midwestern home run hitting weather, they don’t need to juice the balls.

5

u/TheDangiestSlad New York Yankees 17d ago

to be fair, they didn't really do anything extra to the ball in London iirc (it was already juiced)

there was something with the mound that was fucking with the pitchers or something that series

69

u/DalekEvan Los Angeles Dodgers 17d ago

Well, Eloy is used to playing in heaven.

52

u/godly_mercs Chicago White Sox 17d ago

HI MOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM

42

u/idocrunches Washington Nationals 17d ago

Pitch was above his head lol

23

u/king_zacarias Chicago White Sox 17d ago

It’s so effortless for him

He can hit pitchers’ pitches out of the park, he’s that strong

3

u/yoursweetlord70 Chicago White Sox 17d ago

Eloy is a very strong boi who loves his mom

104

u/CydoniaKnight California Angels 17d ago

Man, I love Heaney but I'm still surprised we got a few lottery tickets for him.

38

u/Constant_Gardner11 New York Yankees 17d ago

Yankees gonna hang a Statcast Top Percentile banner right next to their Under the Luxury Tax Threshold banner.

12

u/classically_cool Boston Red Sox 17d ago

That's nothing compared to our "Best record in the first half" banner we're putting up this year.

19

u/WurstThrowEver Los Angeles Angels 17d ago

I’m surprised the Yankees of all teams wanted homer-prone Heaney

15

u/jmmjmm2 New York Yankees 17d ago

Cashman loves giving the analytics guys little projects like Heaney, Chris Carter, Jonathan Davis, etc.

9

u/Drgntrnr Oakland Athletics 17d ago

You literally got Junk for the guy……

26

u/bobichetteismydaddy Toronto Blue Jays 17d ago

Imagine wanting Andrew Heaney on your team

18

u/Blimmmer Los Angeles Dodgers 17d ago

HI MOM

17

u/MattO2000 New York Yankees 17d ago

Eloy came back to life through the corn to hit this home run

18

u/DarkLordofBS New York Yankees 17d ago edited 17d ago

Heaney now rocking a 5.75 ERA for a team in a pennant race. There's not a guy in triple A who can at least give you a 5.00?

Edit: Now 5.85. Garbage

4

u/TrendyOstrich 17d ago

Yea wtf were they thinking trading for him

2

u/gottahavemytunes California Angels 17d ago

I always liked him as a dude but he’s been total ass his whole career

1

u/magikarp2122 Pittsburgh Pirates 17d ago

Your team also traded for Clay Holmes.

4

u/DarkLordofBS New York Yankees 17d ago

Clay Holmes has been totally fine for us and I can at least see what he brings to the table. Years of control, 97 mph, nasty movement. This guy is a soft tossing rental who has never been good

18

u/mgk917 Los Angeles Dodgers 17d ago

The sheesh when he’s passing 3rd base lol

13

u/king_zacarias Chicago White Sox 17d ago

Watch out Ohtani

He’s coming for that HR title

15

u/crassreductionist Chicago White Sox 17d ago

My brother bet me Joc would hit more homers than Eloy this year when Joc was hot during spring training. I’m going to win with Eloy missing 100 games

2

u/DonRicardo1958 Chicago White Sox 17d ago

Six home runs in 13 games this year.

10

u/EvilShadow80 Los Angeles Dodgers 17d ago

The Yankees should add Arrieta for the lethal 1-2 punch

51

u/dasoxarechamps2005 Chicago White Sox 17d ago

Disgusting act

14

u/Zloggt Chicago White Stockings 17d ago

Incredible how he’s hitting it so hard despite tearing a pec just months before!

11

u/brandon_the_bald Strikeout 17d ago

This has got to be an annoying place to pitch in

9

u/Hochseeflotte Cuba 17d ago

Cashman is a fucking dumbass. We gave up players for this guy? Happ was better than this

9

u/tenacious-g Chicago White Sox 17d ago

ELOY-TE

2

u/Lionheart1224 Chicago White Sox 17d ago

I need to speak to someone in the FO that Eloy's Elotes needs to be an actual food stand at the park.

2

u/tenacious-g Chicago White Sox 17d ago

They are! I forget what section exactly, but they’re in the 100 level along the first base line if I recall.

19

u/dynastylicious California Angels 17d ago

The fact that we were able to get anything for a rental of Heaney is crazy

9

u/kay_so New York Yankees 17d ago

I have no idea what our FO saw in him

6

u/dynastylicious California Angels 17d ago

I mean I was probably too harsh. If you squint and see the high K-rate and low walk-rate and other peripherals it was worth taking a risk if you don’t give up too much. I honestly thought he’d be a good change of scenery candidate but I didn’t think playing in the AL East was a good match.

6

u/Changeurblinkerfluid Chicago White Sox 17d ago

HI MOM!

5

u/person7849 Cincinnati Reds 17d ago edited 17d ago

They were just saying he likes to get his arms extended and what do you know he gets anoutside pitch

14

u/TheDangiestSlad New York Yankees 17d ago

that's another point for the "he's dead the whole time in Field of Dreams" crowd

22

u/pzycho Los Angeles Dodgers 17d ago

I was worried that one was going to die on the corning track

7

u/AbstractBettaFish Chicago White Sox 17d ago

You needing worry, Eloy cannot die twice

5

u/JRob370 Miami Marlins 17d ago

The announcers antijinxed it

6

BE NOT AFRAID

5

u/HmathForDayz Los Angeles Dodgers 17d ago

he truly has risen

5

u/[deleted] 17d ago

I could watch homers into the cornfield every game.

5

u/dreadredheadzedsdead Chicago White Sox 17d ago

Tbh the size of the park is irrelevant. Eloy seems to swing with little effort and the ball just jumps out.

2

If he stays healthy he's got a shot at 500 dongaroos. The absolute power of this monster man.

1

u/yoursweetlord70 Chicago White Sox 17d ago

I 100% believe he could hit 50 in a year and even maybe make a run at 60 if he can actually play a full season.

Going into tonight, Eloy had hit 50 home runs in 189 career games, or a 43hr/162 pace. He's also only 24 years old, and presumably is still building towards wherever his career will peak.

1

u/OddlyWholesomePerson Los Angeles Dodgers 17d ago

People do really come back from the dead on that field

Am I the only one annoyed by how unbuttoned his jersey is? lol
