I've had two bassets who dug under the trees and made themselves a nice cool spot to lay down on.

Mine loves to bury her chews, mostly in the blankets but I suspect it's only a matter of time before she upgrades to dirt. What a cute, dirty snoot!

OP, you could just ask, "does anyone else have a basset?" The rest is redundant. 😉

Um no. none of the angles ever dig, and if they did it was in defense of the house. don't give false accusations, only treats and belly rubs :p

Oh yes! Especially if they smell a mole! They were always good at catching those.

Our Belle (6 yr female) loves digging up my wife’s planters. She jumps up into the planter, digs up a bit and lies there…believing she’s invisible.
One time she was tangled in some sticks and string set up for the vines. She just waited for me…sort of like…”daddy? You busy?”
