Weekly Casual Conversation & Questions Thread CHI Talks
Welcome to r/Chicago's weekly casual conversation and questions thread.
This thread is the place to post general topics that don't necessarily need their own post, such as:
* Recommendations requests,
* General questions about moving to or living in Chicago,
* Personal anecdotes related to Chicago
And so on.
All subreddit rules apply and will be enforced within this thread. Posts looking to buy or sell should go in /r/ChicagoList, and posts advertising rental units should go there or in /r/ChicagoApartments. Posts of this nature that are posted in this thread will be removed.
We’ve answered quite a few commonly-asked questions on our wiki, and we encourage you to utilize it as a resource for answering your question as well.
Be sure to also check out the Chicago Events Calendar and /r/AskChicago!
This thread is sorted by "new" so that the most recent comments appear first. The new weekly thread is posted every Monday morning at 12:01 AM.

Your alderperson's office should be able to tell you if any permits are pulled for your street and there would be construction. Check the street cleaning schedule and hope for the best. Sometimes I ask a neighbor to keep an eye on my car and give her the spare key, but typically parking at the airport (off-site) is as cheap as the Uber to and from so I just do that.
