I think Norway is about the only country thats made a half hearted attempt at it at least incentivizing electrical vehicle conversion. Political leaders care about staying in power and maintaining the current system, whatever that system is.

Active transportation, electric bicycles and public transportation are a lot more efficient ways of transportation than electric cars. Also, cities can be transformed very quickly and relatively cheaply towards active transportation. Adaption of electric cars is much slower and way more expensive.

Yes, and that should be reduced as quickly as possible and I'm just pointing out that in many cases we can do even better than electric cars.

You'll want to Google "the green new deal." It's supported by Bernie Sanders, Aoc, Illhan Omar, Rashida Tallib, Jeff Merkley, Ron Wyden and others. Reality based climate leadership is really only coming out of socialist leaning officials, since the major two parties are controlled by corporations who view climate policy as a threat to their profits.
